Yesterday on the Best Damn Sports Show, they had Deron Williams as a guest. They joked around about his watch and eventually Salley gets Deron to challenge Jason Kidd. He looked into the screen and said "Jason I'm coming for you" and said he'd get the best of Jason in their matchup. I'm a bit confused cause Deron wore 5 in college cause his favorite player is Jason. Well, I'm sure it was just clowining around, but if he did really call out Jason, I'm hoping for a great match-up betweent he two. I really like Deron's game and think he's an assett to the old-school point gaurd in the league. It's the off season, board has been a bit slow.
Please, that's barely a call-out. He's just messing around I guess, and I know for a fact that Deron looks up to Kidd. ... slow day in the office huh?
Funny comment by Deron but I know hes playing around. Also a little offtopic but alot of people compare deron to kidd because there both white......JASON KIDDS BLACk lol had to clear that out.
I never took it seriously, but nothing is happening much besides the Padgett signing. Just something to talk about.
I remember Jay Williams got the best of the 1st matchup against Kidd, his rookie year, so it isnt impossible...the kid can dream. Anyway, I seen a few flaws in his game during summer league, he keeps his dribble way too high, doesnt protect the ball the way he needs to bring it jump, quick hand guards are going to have a field day with that until, he changes...anyway everybody talks slick on Best Damn..so yeah he was just joking..and if he wasnt, I dont knock him for calling out the best...just got to back it up on the court

Ive heard people say Deron Williams is but im not sure.
I think its the other way around actually, Kidd white, Deron black.....not that it really matters. Anyway, I don't think that Deron can be compared to Kidd. Deron does not have the same body. Kidd is strong, tough and heavy; he's not the type of guy who is going to be pushed around, even by a lot of forwards. Deron may be able to pass and lead on offense, but he is never going (unless he bulks up) be the phenomenal rebounder that Kidd is. We also have to keep in mind that Kidd does a lot of things that do not show up on the stat sheet (directing the offense, making the pass that leads to the pass, and just sticking people on defense). I do not know what Deron is defensivly, but I doubt that he will be able to prevent certain guards (like Marbury, Billups, Kidd) from posting up.
Deron is quite strong, he did more reps of 145 lbs than Sean May. He just doesn't get good positioning as Kidd. He is very strong, infact. His defense is as good as you can get from a college point gaurd. He shut down Salim Stoudemire in the elite eight then Francisco Garcia in the Final Four.... I suggest you watch Deron play before you make terribly off statements.
Jason Kidd - White mother; Black father Deron Williams - Also mulatto; White wife As for the comments, the Best Damn Sports Show Period is not really a serious atmosphere. I didn't see it, but it seems like a really corny joke by Deron. Nothing to make a big deal about...
Jason Kidd should use this to haze Deron Williams when they match-up. It's possible Deron doesn't even start next season, because Jerry Sloan doesn't like playing rookies right away. I'd love to see Kidd run by the Utah bench and jokingly shouted to Deron, "I was starting from Day 1 my rookie year, not warming the bench."

Ya, I gotta agree with nextlevel that Deron is very strong. Probably the reason that he called Jkidd out (jokingly I'm sure) is that they both play very, very similar games. Both are strong, bigger point guards that can post-up and play good D. The only differnce in their respective games (other than age and experience) is Deron can create shots for himself better than Kidd, but Kidd is a better passer and rebounder.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting xpehbamxyu:</div><div class="quote_post">Ok, I have to take back my comments. I can barely benchpress 100 lbs once </div> If you don't normally lift weights then thats no surprise. Took me 4 months of weight lifting to just lift 80 pounds. anyway, Deron is a guy who loves challenges so I wouldn't be surprised If he was half serious. The guy has been compared to Kidd his whole college career. Has some very similar parts to his game. His strength is a big advantage.

I saw the interview today on Fox Sports' website. He's a very humble kid. John Salley kept badgering him to say that he was coming for Jason Kidd, so Deron, very softly, did so for Salley. Not exactly what I'd consider a "call out".

Lets see if Deron can own Kidd or not. Im hoping Kidd would do an embarrasing play on him.
