It looks like the Magic want Christian Laettner:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> "The Magic continue to weigh several options when it comes to adding another front-court player, but Christian Laettner definitely remains on their list of free agent possibilities. Magic Assistant General Manager Otis Smith met recently with Laettner in North Florida." Orlando Sentinel</div>

How do Magic fans feel about getting Laettner?

Laettner is an aging veteran who probably wont have much effect on this team. Hes injury prone at this point in his career and doesn't look like much of a difference maker. He could be a good signing depending on how cheap he comes.

He killed us last year when we played Miami. Maybe him and Grant can salvage something from their Duke days together.

Any team who ends up with Laettner is going to benefit. He's savvy, and brings some intangibles to a team. The Magic are a little thin on the frontline, and adding Laettner is an upgrade over DeClerq.

I wouldn't mind getting him as long as we don't pay him a ton. He should be a cheap veteren and he could bring something to our team off the bench. Hopefully our two general managers don't give him a large contract because at this point in Laettner's career, he is a role player that can give you about 15 minutes per game and provide a little spark as a backup.

agreed... he could also help provide some veteran advice to dwight. its great that grant has taken dwight under his wing but i think howard needs another big man's advice.... im all for grabbing laettner as long as its cheap.

Pay him a ton. Don't forget we have 0 cap space and only the veteran minimum or the remaining portion of the MLE, which I believe is just under 2 mil, so we definetely won't be able to pay him a lot. 2 year 3-4 million dollar deal would be a nice deal, IMO.

Laettner would be a great backup for Howard and Cato. He has a nice mid-range jumpshot and could add a veteran presence to the team. If the Magic could snag him for the veteran's minimum, it would be a good addition.

A big man that could shoot a good mid range shot is always good to open up that lane for steve, hill or howard.
