Now that they have Mobley, Cassel, Brand, Maggette, and a young star in Shaun Livingston. There not looking to bad In my eyes they can make the playoffs what do you guys think about the Clips?

They have a pretty good team, but I don?t think they are a playoff team. The western conference has so many teams that can make a playoff push that I think the Clippers will be left out. They were looking good a few years back when they had Q, Odom, Brand, Maggette, and Miller yet they were not able to do anything despite having a really talented team because a majority of those guys underachieved. Their are so many different variables that could affect this team like how well will the talents fit together? How will shots be distributed? Who will be the option late in games? will Cassel stay healthy? And a lot more. It?s a possibility they will make the playoffs right now though I think the odds are against them simply because of the good teams the west has.

I dont think they will get into the playoffs. I just cant see them competing with the Kings, Jazz, Warriors, and T'Wolves for the lower playoff spots. I do think they will have a better record than the Lakers though. [IMG]

Teams that make it in the West:

    San Antonio
    Dallas
    Houston
    Denver
    Sacremento
    Phoenix

The last 2 spot will be a battle between: Seattle, Golden State, Minnesotta, LA Lakers, LA Clippers, and the Utah Jazz.

It's definately not going to be easy, but they're capable of being a +.500 team.

dont know cuz the clippers have always had good players but not a good team. they always some how lose and not win. maybe this year though they could make it as 8th seed.

I think the Clippers can do it, with Cat Meowbly and Sam I am, they're pretty much there looking at the pieces they already got. Livingston, Maggette, and Brand are going to be good its just if the team meshes right and they have good chemistry they should be a 5-8 seed in the playoffs. Wilcox, Kaman, Ross, and Ewing are all good backups, but Ewing remains to be seen in an NBA game the other three are good if not better.

One team always overachieves and more than one underachieves, I like og15's list there but im going against it and saying that the Clippers are going to make the playoffs and be 5-8 seed.

The clippers are a really improved team now. But the West is a very strong conference and their are many teams that they will have to do better than.

They have a pretty good team, but I don't think they will be in the playoff race.

The Clipps are improved, but still not good enough to make the playoffs. With Sam and Shaun both at point, they have a choce as to who to start (though to me it's obvious). Beyond that, the rest looks like it should be set, with Mobley/Maggette/Brand/Kaman rounding out the rest of the starting five. Now, that looks good, but beyond the starting five, who else is there? Wilcox? Sure, he's there, but he's inconsistent and you never know which Chris Wilcox is going to show up on any given night. Cassell (assuming he's backup)? Well, he's aging, has lost a step, and it could be a crapshoot as to whether or not he stays healthy. So, while the starting five is promising, the rest of it is shaky. Their depth is questionable and health could be a concern with some of their players, and with the West as deep as it is this year, those two concerns could hold them out of the playoffs.

I think if they show gradual improvement from last season, they definitely have a chance to make the playoffs. With teams like Seattle, Memphis, and Minnesota losing some of the firepower they've had the past few years, the Clippers just need to play consistent ball and be a little over .500 to make the playoffs, IMO. With the addition of Cassell and Mobley, and the gradual improvement of Livingston, they have the capability to play "+ .500 ball."

Lock Teams: San Antonio,Phoenix,Dallas,Houston....thats it, i think the last 4 spots are up for grabs between....Minny,Utah,LAC,LAK,Memphis,GS,Denver,Sacramento....i personally think the lower seeds will look lik this:
    5-Memphis (they have IMPROVED)
6-Denver (im still not impressed they are considered a LOCK)
    7-Sacramento
    8-Minnesota

Please show Seattle some respect, losing a backup pg and 15mpg center doesn't make you fall out of the playoffs after getting the 3rd seed. Come on.

I would really love to hear how you guys think that the Jazz are going to make the playoffs, or even be close. Jerry Sloan is their best player.....and he's the coach. [IMG]

If Utah can stay healthy, they could contend for the playoffs. When your 2 best players are injured for most of the season, it's kind of hard to make the playoffs. [IMG]

Livingston is not a young star, I dono if he'll prove me wrong but the guy is too skinny, too injury prone, and just not tallented enough, all hype imo. yeah he'll be legit, but nothin really special. The clips need cassel to get younger or they don't make the playoffs, although look for great things from maggete this year.

Out of curiosity, how does a player manage to get younger?

Clippers will make the playoffs as the 8th seed if they don't get injured which to me seems like a big task for this team.

I dont think he means younger in actual age, he is probably just talking about finding the Fountain of youth....which is basically having a year similiar to a year during your glory days, when nobody thinks you have anything left, basically playing like you are 25 instead of an old 35...My man Curtis Martin had one of those years last year in the NFL, Jerry Rice had it when he first arrived in Oakland after San Fran. NBA wise its hard for me to think of one right off bat, I guess you can say Reggie Miller had that somewhat last year in Indy

Seattle definetely isn't as good as last year. You lose a good player in Daniels a conributor in James and not to mention...your coach. They will have to fight this year.

Also, the Jazz have chance, they where killed by injuries and they have a great young player IN Deron Williams and a star in AK47.
