lebron is getting seriously overrated by hype, he is not better than kobe or tmac like someone said before because of defense. Lebron had a great sophmore year but he still hasn't been in the playoffs and has had spotty shooting. AI put his team in the playoffs last year when bron didn't, i'd go ai kobe tmac bron wade
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Run BJM:</div><div class="quote_post">I'm going to exclude the guys who i think are SFs (Tmac, Bron, Pierce, etc.). Also excluding PGs. 1. Kobe 2. A.I. 3. Flash 4. Ginobli (a little bold but he had a great year and plays defense) 5. VC 6. Ray Allen 7. J-Rich (maybe a homer pick but I think this is accurate) 8. Redd 9. Rip 10. Hughes? joe Johnson?</div> Isn't J-Rich pretty much a 'power guard' which basically means 'undersized forward'? Although he passes well and isn't bad on the drive, his game is too much like Michael Finley and Paul Pierce's without as good of a handle. He knows how to post up weaker shooting guards, but until he can consistently take someone off the dribble like Vinsanity, the truth, or Finley in his prime and not lose it off his foot, I think he'd be rated too high among shooting guards. Still I like the fact Jrich is very explosive, makes others slightly better and is clutch from about everywhere inside and out. The best two guards are guys that can play some point at duty because they pass, dribble, and most importantly spread the floor by shooting. My favorite talent (although sort of wasted because of lack of heart and a frail body) is Vince Carter. A swing guy that can shoot from everywhere, dribble, pass, block shots, rebound, hit free throws, and do just about everything but play tough defense. Ray Allen, Kobe Bryant and T-mac I like, but a few of them became or always was kinda soft on D, but they do almost everything well. The 6'5 to 6'8 variant 1. Kobe 2. T-mac (plays at SF, but still plays like a 2) 3. VC (awesome when motivated) 4. Paul Pierce (power guard) 5. Ray Allen 6. Ginobilli (does everything well) 7. J-Rich (power guard) 8. Redd 9. Rip Hamilton (still can't shoot a 3 very well) 10. Corey Magette (power guard, doesn't really hit 3's) 11. Jerry Stackhouse
1) Kobe Bryant 2) Allen Iverson 3) Tracy McGrady 4) LeBron James 5) Dwyane Wade Kobe Bryant- I think what sets him apart from the rest of the guars in the league, its that he has three rings. At the end of the day you can't say that about any of these other active guards. Although he hasn't proven he can carry a team on his back, he still has the best credentials with winning three championships Allen Iverson-AI is the best scorer in the league that is what makes him so special. Besides that he gives it his all each and every game and always plays with tremendous heart and courage, he also has great playmaking ability and can set up other guys when he needs to. Tracy McGrady- McGrady is a great scorer as well. Although he seemed to be immature in the past by now he has definitely matured and is a great player who is only going to get better. He has improved his defense as well, and has worked for everything he has achieved as a player. LeBron James- Bron has to be the future of the NBA. At twenty years old he is already one of the best of its players. What makes him special is that he can do a little bit of everything. Once LeBron improves his perimeter game, and defense he is going to be a near perfect player. He just can't let the hype get to him and mess up his focus that goes for off the court distractions as well. Dwyane Wade - Wade is a great player, he has an amazing combination of agility, quickness, and strength. He also has his priorities straight and you won't likely see him in the news for a crime or something. Wade has great character and has a nice long career in front of him. But although three points shooting isn't his game, he needs to work on his three point shot. When you are a guard in this league you should always have a reliable three point shot in your arsenal.
TMac was mentioned at 6'10 which I think is total BS, I guess he just likes to exaggerate a little bit, to make things fun. How is Iverson below Wade and James? The sophs have barely a fifth of the accomplishments of Iverson and just because of some numbers Lebron put up, he's the best SG in the league? 1. Kobe Hate him, but he is one of the most athletic and relentless players in the league. He has incredible work ethic and a desire to improve his game. The only problem is that he created too much confidence in himself and doesn't trust his teammates. 2. Iverson I absolutely hate how everyone assumes this guy will just STOP in 2 years because his body can't handle the punishment. With heart like his, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't drop 25+ for another 5 years. Besides his incredible athleticism, he just can't stop scoring. He's the second most unstoppable player in the league, especially come playoff time. 3. McGrady Love his game. Sweet jumper, penetration, intensity, cockiness that comes with his abilities, etc. He has buckets of athleticism and a thirst to prove people wrong. His tenacious D on Dirk in the 2005 playoffs is an example of that. 4. Kidd Without a doubt, one of the few players left who gives others roles and make them look good. A natural born leader with clutch capabilities Kidd is exciting on both ends of the court. 5. Allen Problems arise when he gets hot, always a threat from the perimeter but also capable to penetrate into most defenses. I think he's underrated because he makes everything look so easy. He's number 5 because of his poise on and off the court, he's one of the few who can keep his emotions in check during gametime. 6. Carter So athletic it's unfair to everyone else. If he had been with NJ for the entire season I think he could've challenged Iverson to the scoring title. His offensive game is complete with 3pt range, penetration followed by a thunderous slam or acrobatic layup, Vince's unpredictability makes him almost impossible to guard. I didn't put in Bron Bron or Wade simply because they are so young and can no way be considered the best at this point in time. Anyway, they will get better but Bron's ppg and rpg will decrease with the addition of Hughes and Marshall, and Wade will have to become more efficient if he wants to continue dropping 24 nightly. EDIT: <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Lamont:</div><div class="quote_post">There are so many of these lists with some players being considered guards and other times forwards. i wouldn't count lebron as guard he hasn't played that since his rook year, he's more a point-forward. In terms of the best guards it would be a toss up between wade, kobe, and nash.</div> Nash wins the MVP and he's instantly the best guard in the NBA? His game suffers major holes, and Shaq deserved MVP moreso, having sacrificed his game for the sake of the team.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting babybulls:</div><div class="quote_post">lebron is getting seriously overrated by hype, he is not better than kobe or tmac like someone said before because of defense. Lebron had a great sophmore year but he still hasn't been in the playoffs and has had spotty shooting.</div> Lebron is WAY overrated, your right. He ain't close to being better than Kobe, and probably never will. I agree <div class="quote_poster">Quoting babybulls:</div><div class="quote_post"> ai kobe tmac bron wade</div> This is where I disagree. AI shouldn't even be in top 5. The guy takes 30 shots a game, obcourse he'll score alot. If Mike Bibby were allowed to take 30 shots a game, he would be mentioned up there with AI. I don't think somebody who shoots 30% for his career should be in the top 5. Here's the list: <div align="center">Kobe Simply the most talented guy in the league. The only player in the league who always seems to get the edge. Nobody can stop him, and he knows that too. People claim he wasn't a leader, but of what team? The Lakers squad sucked last year. So Kobe had to score, assist, rebound, block shots, coach, and damn near play GM for the Lakers because nobody knew what they were doing last year. I expect things to change with Phil coming back. While he ain't Jordan, he's pretty damn close. Watch out MJ TMAC This guy is what Scottie Pippen was supposed to be after he left Chicago. 6'8, long, and UNSTOPPABLE. The only knock on his game was that he can't play D, until he shut Dirk down for an ENTIRE SERIES. The only guy outside of Kobe that can always get that advantage on his opponents. Dwayne Wade Kobe haters say he's better than him, but they're in "La La land". However, this guy is incredible! He has that same killer instinct that Kobe, and Tmac have, and Lebron doesn't. In the long run, I see him being BETTER than Lebron. In the next 8 years, Wade will be the BEST PLAYER ON THE UNIVERSE! Lebron James Even though he's incredibly overhyped, he has a very bright future. He's more like a Magic. Won't go off for 50 too many times, but he'll have a triple double almost every night. He has everything but that killer instinct. For instance, I saw a game where Tmac dunked on Lebron twice, and Lebron went back down court smiling and joking(what the hell???). He needs to start HATING his opponents more instead of patting them on the back after a good play. Vince Carter Even though some say he's not as good as he once was, I disagree. I think he's more dangerous. He may not jump quite as high, but that doesn't mean he won't hit you up for 50. I think he got the Lebron syndrome early in his career. People overhyped him in his first couple of seasons, and when he didn't turn out to be what they expected, they treated him like garbage. I think he's going to show folks this season that he's still able to takeover the game.</div>

That?s like saying M J would average 50 points per game in a season if he shot as much Wilt Chamberlin did the season when he scored 50 points per game. You know AI has been argued so much; I'm honestly tired of explaining.
I think Shape probably has the most realistic list at post #18. If I was trying to win a championship in one season, I would take Tmac if I had a top 5 pick. I wouldn't take him over A.I., Kobe, Kidd, Nash, or Ginobli. All those guys lead their team and motivate them. Tmac never has gone past first round of playoffs. Same goes with Lebron. I think I would probably drop Kidd down to 3 though.
Kobe T-Mac LeBron Wade Nash (not the most athletic but ask Amare if they'd rather play with Nash or Baron Davis or Starchild) Ginobili Bibby Paul Pierce Baron Davis Marbury HONORABLE MENTION: Jason Richardson
