Very good to see that more players are getting into this and helping out. I dont have a link but I saw on NBA TV that Stephon Marbury is giving 500,000 to help. Im proud that NBA players are helping out it shows they care.
Yea Marbury was breaking down in tears and I feel he meant all of what he said. I'm glad to see the NBA players giving back.
I'd think that a guy making $20 million a year would be more generous than that, but good gesture by him nonetheless.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting VinKanaddy:</div><div class="quote_post">I'd think that a guy making $20 million a year would be more generous than that, but good gesture by him nonetheless.</div> If you turn to the NBATV right now, you will see that entire NBA teams are only giving like 100,000 to the relief fund, some even less, so for one guy to give up a million is respectable in my opinion...He came up with what Puff & Jay-z came to the table with combined, so look at it like that. Anyway, I seen a press conference with Steph today on the local news...he seem ,to me, to be seriously, emotionally devastated, so I think he is giving from the heart. And for the right reasons... Some celebs are giving for tax writeoffs, and the pub it might give them, so I respect Steph for this...
Steph isn't one to break down in tears so he obviously donated all of that money from his heart. Also because he's making 20 million a year, doesn't mean he's not being generous. Just like Henacy said, you don't seem teams/players donating 1/20 of their paychecks to their relief funds. Maybe now people will start looking at Steph a different way instead of an arrogant, egotistical guy with an attitude. This is what he said on NBA.com: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Stephon Marbury (New York Knicks) ?It makes you think about how fortunate we are, just being able to breathe and walk.? ?It?s not even about money. Now, it?s more about everybody coming together and just trying to live as one.? ?Just giving money, that?s nothing. You?re supposed to do that. It?s just about the way we treat people.? ?I keep looking at my kids. You don?t think about anything else, you just hold them so tight. They don?t even know why you?re looking at them like that. You want to cry in front of them but they don?t understand.?</div>
i was totally shocked to see his emotions running so high on nba tv. I really love what this guy had to say and have so much respect for him as a person.. not even talking about on the court but just his attitude. It is so true, it isn't even about the money.. the money will restore the needs like food and water but at the end of the day we should all learn a big lesson from this. The way we treat people.. everything man i just watched his speech now and im totally touched.. haven't even posted at JBB in ages.. One.
From Marbury's arrogance and his attitude I didn't like the guy, but I'm glad that outside of basketball he is grateful for what he has and loves his kids.
okay Though it is a large amount of money and a nice gesture the truth is for someone who got so dang emotional he should be able to spare more than 1/40th of his salary for ONE season.

Kobe is donating 100k, and I'm sure there are many players donating 0$.
What a good thing to do by Marbury,up to 1 million maybe. And you got some successful organizations giving 100,000 and crap.He was broken down and tears in the press conference.BEST WISHES TO ALL HURRICANE KATRINA VICTIMS
