<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Nets are close to completing their roster for this season.

Lamond Murray, cut by the Raptors on Friday, will be given a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum ($1.138 million) from the Nets once he clears waivers and passes his physical, according to league sources.

The Nets also agreed to terms on a two-year deal with Scott Padgett. The veteran forward, who will make $1.6 million in the upcoming season, also must pass his physical before the deal becomes official.

The routine physical has proven dicey for the Nets this summer. Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Robert "Tractor" Traylor had their New Jersey deals voided because they failed theirs.

If and when Padgett and Murray join the Nets, which should be later this week, it will give them 14 players with guaranteed deals. The two veterans also should improve the Nets' shooting, which ranked next to last in the NBA last season.

Padgett shot 40 percent on three-pointers last season for the Rockets and is a career 39 percent shooter from downtown. Murray, a 6-foot-7 swingman, has averaged 11.9 points in his 10-year career and has connected on 36 percent of his threes.</div>

Well i guess he is last player we are signing this off season.

He would not be a bad pick up. I think that he still has some game left and will provide depth if there are any injuries.

Not really a fan of the last two moves made by Rod Thorn....Murray is a decent signing if we didnt have Padgett, just agree to terms....I dont know if Rod Thorn jump the gun or not with coming to terms on the Padgett signing, thinking that Murray wouldnt become available. And not wanting to have to settle for someone like Person, who was really what was left ,as far as shooting is concern, in our price range....but in my opinion its really redundant with these two moves...frontcourt guys one being a 3, one being a 3/4, who cant defend, dont bring anything on the boards, and can only hope to provide New Jersey with an outside threat...they are the same thing just in a different size package...if Thorn would have came out of these last two roster spots with Murray and either Alan Henderson, Calvin Booth, or even Haslip, I think he would have been sitting in the drivers seat after turning down Shareef. He would have add 3 quality parts (Murray, Jackson, and the other big) that we couldnt/wouldnt have added if the Reef deal went thru at the begining of the summer. You could in someways look at, not getting reef in a very positive aspect...but I dont have the same feelings after being redundant with the last two spots.

Lammond is too selfish to help a team. Anytime he could get off a shot in Toronto, he didn't think twice. His defense is mediocre at best.
