http://insidehoops.com/pierce-trade-090705.shtml I projected them to be a top 5 team in the West before this deal. Now they have a chance to go deep in the playoffs.
How credible is that source I wonder? Andre Miller + Nene for Pierce? http://www.justbball.com/forums/showthread.php?p=517105 I guess that means Earl Boykins has been promoted to starter if it is true (which I don't think it is). Watson is not much of a point guard.
That report says it's a done deal. There's a difference between a rumor and a done deal. I'm not going to do anything crazy like bet my life on it but a writer needs a damn good source to claim the deal will happen.

I'm not going to do anything crazy like bet my life on it but a writer needs a damn good source to claim the deal will happen.</div> A source informed InsideHoops.com Wednesday evening that the Boston Celtics are expected to trade all-star guard/forward Paul Pierce to the Denver Nuggets for guard Andre Miller and forward/center Nene. But late Thursday morning a high-ranking member of the Celtics organization told InsideHoops.com via email that the rumor is "incorrect." Hardly a done deal...
He updated his article. Last night he wrote Pierce will be traded. He opened his mouth before he knew what he was talking about. Next day, Ainge refutes the rumor and that idiot has to drink his own bathwater.
I knew it. InsideHoops just sucks... This is what we mean about credible sources. I swear some internet news sites bullsht so much. Give it a season and we'll know for sure he made crap up. But that's one site we should blacklist from ever reaching these threads.
This trade doesn't make sense. What would Boston do with another PG? If I am correct, that would mean they would have 5 PGs. Also, this would probably mean Nene will start over Al Jefferson, something Boston doesn't want. Boston doesn't want to stunt his improvement, and getting Nene will do just that. This would be awesome for the Nuggets, but utterly useless for the Celts.
We'll see within the year at the most what the real deal is. GM's like Ainge can lie about what's happening to confuse other competitors. I can understand rumors about Paul Pierce being moved, but naming actual players and a team in a trade is very bold, especially when the guys being received don't seem like Danny Ainge type of guys (Maybe Miller... but his shot is so limited). Danny Ainge likes the players who can move the ball and be team players, but c'mon can't Ainge get a little more for one of the top allstar swingmen in the league? Nene has a lot of potential, but he plays kind of small on the glass and still isn't as gifted on footwork as Mike Sweetney or Marcus Fizer.
