I am reading that Boston are looking to trade Paul Pierce to Denver for Nene and Andre Miller. If such a trade was to go through, that immediately makes Denver the best side in the Northwest by a fair margin, gives them an awesome 1-2-3 of Pierce, Melo and K-Mart and means the Earl Watson signing makes a lot more sense. It's going to be extremely hard to defend our Northwest crown if this one goes down.
I'm not really a fan of team stockpiling players who are clones of each other. Plus Paul Pierce and George Karl had a major rift with each other in the 2002 World Championships. If Denver was impatient enough to make that trade straight up then I think that we would be the favorites again to win the Northwest division--provided that we resign our free agents. Carmelo is still one of the premier young talents in the league and to have his progress stunted by having him compete on the perimeter with Paul Pierce doesn't make much sense to me. Plus replacing Andre Miller with Earl Watson isn't very shrewd on the part of Kiki. Ricky Davis also had his best year in the league with Dre running the point as well--but I don't think this move would necessarily be a big time winner for Boston either. Doesn't seem like a good fit either way. I am a huge fan of Paul Pierce but I don't think that this would increase Denver chances of being pushed into the elite of the league. Denver is best served standing pat right now and seeing how their roster will gel next season. I'm interested in hearing who your sources are with this one, SD the Ghost.

Pierce lit up the competition in the first couple games of that tournament. Jermaine O'Neal started it off down low, and then Pierce got it going from midrange and long range. He was hitting everything in those early games, then he barely got played as the tournament moved on and the US started losing.

There was a buzz about getting Maglorie from New Orleans or Curry from Chicago. Nene was mentioned briefly. How disappointing it is to see that Denver was and is willing to trade him. I wonder if Wally approached them with a Radmanovic sign and trade deal? Well, it looks like that is a moot point anyway. At least we still have the deal on the table with the Buffalo Sabers..... they give us a crisp 50 dollar bill for Robert Swift. It is rumored that they are looking for a Zamboni driver to clean the ice in between periods. But wait.... does Swift have his driver's licence yet?
Bit of a difference between Paul Pierce and what we would have offered for Nene, who is more of a PF anyway.
