The 87-year-old coaching great has been in and out of the hospital the past month for tests and a successful surgical procedure, Celtics spokesman Jeff Twiss said Thursday. Twiss would not identify the procedure and said Auerbach was readmitted for an unspecified problem within the last 10 days He would not disclose the name of the hospital and said Auerbach's family requested that no information be released about his condition. Auerbach has had recent health problems before his latest hospitalization. In June, he was not feeling well enough to attend the Celtics' annual draft party in Waltham. The next month, he was unable to attend his weeklong summer basketball camp, which has been in operation for more than four decades. This year, it was held at the University of New Hampshire.</div> source
I cant believe Im just hearing about this. The lack of Celts coverage in this area is terrible. All I keep hearing about is the Pats first game and the Sox playoff race. Would it kill them to mention that the greatest Boston sports figure of all time is sick? Anywho, my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
I don't know, I heard about it straightaway, I live in the back woods of Maine for god's sake. I have no cable tv, don't listen to the radio, and the only contact I have with other people lately are the people I work for (I'm not bored, I swear), and I didn't miss this one. I guess it depends on your source. There are just so many places to get information these days, it's easy to miss some stuff. Aside from that, this man ran the game like the drill sargeant he was in WWII, and he raised the organization like the fine father he is. All the best, and we hope to see him courtside again this year.
