After the Webber trade we all saw bibby's numbers increase a lot this is due to his new role as a leader on his team will he continue his numbers and become an all-star this upcoming season?
I don't see why not, the Kings are going to be a contending team this year and Bibby will be the main piece to their success. I doubt he gets voted in as a starter, but he should be considered as the second favorite PG after Steve Nash. His toughest competition will probably be Baron Davis from the Warriors.
I'm not sure if Mike Bibby will be able to make the team this year. First of all for the all-star game theirs usually four to five guards on each roster. The NBA doesn?t care if all four guards on one roster are shooting guards or all four are point guards. The guards last year on the West's team were: Kobe Bryant, Tracy Mcgrady, Ray Allen, and Steve Nash. That?s three shooting guards and one point guard. I'm assuming that those will probably be the guards this season if there are no major injuries. Although if their happen to be five guards on the team this season it will probably be between Baron Davis and Mike Bibby for that last spot.
I think Bibby should have gone to the all-star game the last few years , at least as a back-up, but the competition this year will be even harder with Baron Davis now in the west. I dont think he gets in unless Baron or Nash is injured (these circumstances are actually very realistic). Nash is a lock because he is the reigning MVP, Baron played great with the Warriors when he was at about 80% putting up very similar numbers to Bibby but played better defense. You also have to take into account player popularity, Bibby is pretty underrated while Baron and Nash are very mainstream and flashy. If Baron and Nash are healthy, Bibby wont get in but if one is injured it would be robbery if he didnt get in.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting playmaker14:</div><div class="quote_post">I'd give Nash and B Diddy the nod over Bibby but it's possible he may make it.</div> agreed, provided that Davis is healthy...
You guys are forgetting that ginobili was also played for the west in the allstar game his numbers are looking to go down with additions of finley and van exel but he can amaze us and prove us wrong
I think it is a stretch, and will be honest it is not because he does not have the talent, but he has a lot of competition Steve Nash, Baron Davis, Tony Parker, Jason Terry, etc. Most of the playoff teams have a good point guard that has all-star potential. I think a lot of times Bibby gets over looked, because in years past for one the talent he played with was outstanding, and another reason being that he does a lot of things well, but does not really excel at one particular area over the competition. He is a good passing point guard, but does not excel and lead the league in assists like a Jason Kidd or Steve Nash. He scores well, but not like a Steve Francis (when he was in the western conference) or Baron Davis so people tend to over look him, because he does not have the flash that those players do.
It will be tough for Bibby to make the All Star Game this season. He definitely has the talent to make it and has been snubbed numerous occasions. The Point Guards that are tough competition vs. Bibby are Baron Davis, Steve Nash, and Tony Parker. Hopefully he does make it, I feel sorta bad for him he has been snubbed so many times.
Should Mike Bibby make the All Star team this year? Yes! Will Mike Bibby make the All Star team this year? No! Here's why: First of all the fans will never vote enough to get a guy like Mike Bibby into the starting lineup. He doesn't dunk and he doesn't make over-the-top flashy plays to earn the fans voting him in. When the fans vote they look for flashiness, cockiness, and everything else that Mike Bibby doesn't do. They would never vote in a player like Bibby that does everything the right way, still produces better stats, and makes his team better than most other point guards. The only hope of Mike Bibby getting into the All Star game is through the coaches voting. I don't expect Nash to make it again this year due to the loss of key players to the Suns offense. Defenses don't have to guard the outside attack as much so they can focus on Amare which will take away a lot of Nash's assists. Baron Davis will probably start for the All Star team and I don't expect Ginobili to do as much with the additions of Finley and Van Exel. Based on this hopefully the coaches can recognize the lack of a backup PG on the West squad, and the fact that Bibby is long overdue for an All Star appearance and show him a little love. Nevertheless, make sure to vote your asses off for him this year because he deserved it a long time ago!

Except for Amare and Barbosa, everyone on the Suns is a capable shooter. SG: Raja Bell (good spot up shooter) SF: Marion, ugly mechanic, but can hit open treys SF: Jim Jackson is a good 3-pt threat C: Kurt Thomas has a nice long range 2-pter, which was used heavily off pick and rolls in NY.
I think that if they are either 1 or 2 in the west during the voting, he will make it... if they fall below that he is really going to have to step up his defensive skills in order to make the all star team.
Mike Bibby has no business being an allstar. Steve Nash could average 1ppg, but as reigning MVP, he'd make it. If the Warriors make any noise whatsoever they will be deserving of at least one allstar. It will most likely be Baron Davis since he will be credited for the turnaround. The same thing applies with the Clippers, Sam Cassel has a great chance of making it again. Kobe, Tmac, and Ray are always in there as far as other guards. I believe that either Ginobili or Parker will make it this year as well. Nobody should be an allstar from the Kings organization. I would have given the nod to Brad Miller, but he wont do as well with SAR there.

Mike Bibby will not make the All-Star game because of that, but he is as deserving of it as anyone else. Hopefully the coaches will vote him in, u deserve it Mike.
Sam Cassell will not be making any all star teams this year. Cassell's best days are behind him and his career as on the downslope. Shaun Livingston will make a run at starting PG and although he won't beat out Cassell, he will earn a lot of playing time at the point and will share duties with Cassell. If Cassell has a great season it's only because Livingston goes down with another injury and he's somehow able to play like he did two years ago when he made his first ever appearance. Tony Parker definitely won't make an All Star appearance either. Give credit to Tony for being a very effective player but he suffers from the same problem Bibby does: he's not flashy enough. Besides, if it came down to coaches voting, Bibby has better stats and he's more consistent than Parker.
Haha, I could care less whether you guys think I am smart or not. Michael Redd and Ray Allen are not flashy, but both have made the allstar team. For that matter, Tim Duncan isn't flashy either. As far as coaches selections go, they vote based on who you plan to stop when you are going to play a certain team. On the Kings, Peja has been that player whenever Webber was injured and after he was traded. I don't believe that Cassell will make the team either, but I think he has a better chance than Bibby does. You guys aren't giving Sam enough credit, Flip limited his minutes beginning last year and that put him in a funk. If the allstar game was about being flashy, Marbury and Francis would have both made it last year.
your wron, Bibby deserves it but sadly he won't make it. Sam Cassell??? He's old and won't play as an all star for the rest of his career. Redd and Allen are shooting guards and Redd doesn't deserve it either. No need to make excuses for Sam he didn't play up to par and got less minutes because of it. Marbury and Francis are legit players and are All Star caliber players. Bibby isn't very flashy either he has calmed down his game and is becoming a true leader. The Pg's should be B. Diddy and Bibby but Nash will get in.
Not only do i think Bibby is the pest point guard in the league, i think he is an outside contender for MVP because I believe the Kings will be *Sick* this year.
The problem about the Kings is that they play a very distributed offense that one player doesn't stand out too much. All 5 of their players tend to put in excellent contributions.
