I know a lot of us have been waiting for the Eddy Curry Saga to come to an end before passing out our judgment on the Bulls off-season this year, but with no end appearing near, and other moves we have made this off-season. I feel like this question can be posed. How would you rate the Bulls off-season thus far? For a small break down here are our additions, subtractions, and looming targets... <div align="center"> Additions A good big man who can bloom under the coaching style Skiles runs in Chicago. In a system that brings out the best in roll players Malik can prove to be a great surprise to a lot of Bulls fans this season, and get statistics around I believe 8 points and 8 rebounds should the rotation allow it. A good young rookie who went undrafted once one defensive player of the year at Charlotte, and earned the nickname superman from one of his teammates after a dunk. In my mind a NBA ready player who will be great for the team this season. Resigned Overpaid? Perhaps in the minds of some he has a lot to prove this season. More so should Curry not return. The heart of the Bulls team in my opinion as well as the most underrated piece. I would have liked to have seen him locked up for a few more years, but am happy he is returning. With Allen joining the team, Davis, Chandler getting a big deal, Othella may be the odd man out. Subtraction With the depth in the Bulls backcourt, and the whispers of a Jay Williams return to the Bulls. Frank Williams the former Illinois star?s chances of being in Chi-Town next year is a bigger long shot then a Michael Jordan come back. Use the word subtraction as loosely as possible with this guy. Was not active on the Bulls roster for much of last season, and the only player sent to the Bulls summer league from last seasons roster this year. Yet failed to excel in even that. A nice product when placed in the Skiles system, but easily replaced by Malik Allen?s signing. Looming Free Agents Eddy Curry?s heart problem has made it a rough negotiating process so far. Curry wants long term deal Bulls don?t. In addition to heart problems questions about his physical condition have also made it tough to work out a deal. Sign and trade possibility has become more and more likely in the past view weeks. Jannero Pargo? Jay Williams? Pargo? Williams? If the Bulls don?t speed up the negotiating process they may not get either. Not a lot of news on his contract situation thus far a good roll player, but injury prone veteran. His knowledge of the game may keep him in Chicago.</div> So I pose the question again successful off-season?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting NaKz:</div><div class="quote_post">didnt we also get darius songalia?</div> When I made the thread he was not officially signed, and I?m not even sure if he has already been officially signed as of today. With the NBA twists and turns this off-season i did not want to say we got a guy until it is official
In: - Chandler: Maybe the Bulls overpaid a little, but it had to be done. So no questions there. Great signing. - Malik Allen: I don't know him that well. Seems like a decent backup big man, but i guess we'll have to see if he fits in. - Basden: I had never heard of him. But apparently he was the one Pax wanted to draft, and he seems to have decent credentials and fit the profile of the big, defensive guard we needed. So now it's up to him to earn his spot. Don't know why, but i have a good feeling about this guy... - Songalia (if he signs): High energy guy. I've seen him play a few times with the Kings. Definitely a guy Skiles is going to like. - Harrington: He proved last year he can be very useful, and a good influence in the locker room. And his contract seems right. - Duhon: He had to fight for it, and earned his contract. Good for him. I have no problem having a guy like him on my team. Out: - Williams, Reiner, Griffin: with all due respect, we won't miss them - Pargo: Mixed feelings about him...I felt he deserved to return. But there's only so much room on a team... Overall: I haven't made up my mind yet. Still waiting to see what's going to happen to Curry. And the guys Pax brought in all look decent at the very least, but i can't help but feel we didn't need all those bigs. Allen, Songalia and Harrington looks a bit much to me, especially with Chandler and Curry entering teir fifth year. I mean, at some point i assume they will start playing 35+ minutes and earn the dough they're getting. And with Deng and Nocioni also needing minutes...looks awfully crowded to me. Also, signing all those bigs probably means we won't resign Pargo. I hope we won't regret him. He gave us good spot minutes last year. An injury to Hinrich or Gordon, and we're in trouble. And i worry about Curry's relation with Skiles. With allen and Songalia on the team, and Davis and Harrington still in the mix, Pax gave Skiles two more reasons to keep him on the bench every time he blows a defensive assignment. When you hear those rumors about Eddy gaining weight again, the contract situation, a timebomb waiting to explode imo...
ITs getting to the point for me not to sign Curry and just sign the younger players when they are up - Hinrich, Gordon, Deng etc.
