I think they rushed it and should of made it longer, the cause was well presented but it seemed they could of made a bigger effort.
Hey as long as they got what they came for done, then it's all good to me. I've been so nba-deprived, this game really relieved me...I can't wait till October.
ok I was spittin some game at this chick before I leave town so I completely missed the game....SI.com doesn't have any coverage, ESPN doesn't either...how was the game? How'd it work? Wasn't it only like an hour long? The West won 114-95, thats all I know....i need details...i.e individual stats lol
I thought it was sloppy but what do you expect with no practice, and no coaching. These guys werent in top shape, and they also had been up all day distributing supplies and playing with kids. Some of my personal observations, which you can see for yourself tonite on NBA tv(check you tv guide) 1. Lebron was gunnin his ass off and even though I know it was a last minute exhibition( i'll probably get killed for saying this); he did not look (listen very closely)ANYTHING like the elite player that he is supposed to be. In my eyes he never has. His numbers are great, he is 2yrs removed from high school, blah, blah, blah but face it for all the exposur he gets he should (right now) be one of the the top 5 players in the league. And again i know it was a pick up game , but when you shoot that many 3pointers and long distant jumpers and can't catch a rythm; you need to spend less time at NASCAR events and more time practicing your jumper which at this point is none existant. Finally as I get off my soap box his unwillingness to work on the shortcomings of his game is why Amare and Dwayne are up their with tracy and Kobe and "game wise", he is on Marbury's(who i love) level relying on his talent. 2.Allen Iverson was there and did not suitup. 3.The commentary by Kenny,Chuck, and Ernie (about basketball) was better than the game, and I for one think that they need a radio show. I made my September to hear fun basketball perspective. 4.Charles made a disparaging remark about poor people needing to get their education so that they won't rely on the govt and they can get good jobs in order to not be in situations like this. I know when it was said Kenny picked up on it and no one said nor will they probably say anything. But i bet if one of the Bushes said anything it would be hell to pay. Now i am in no way defending the crooked ass Bush family, but fair is fair, Charles sounded like he forgot where he came from,an if I did not know of all the stuff he has done for us I would trip, but I guess you couldnt expect anything less from a republican. 5.Kobe got Barry Bonds big, but he aint lost his speed and first step, he blew past Lebron 3times....oh yeah i forgot Lebron "still" can't play D. Amare was playing Matadore defense on Kob and Wade seemed to play him hard. 6.After the first 3 min you forget Jermaine O'neal and D-Wade are even there. 7.Mike james looked like he was playing for a contract. That boy had more energy than anyone. 8.Tyrone Lue was rockin a detroit pistons jersy with a piece of paper with his name on the back....classic. 9.Finally these dudes better get in shape.....about 8 short dunks and 21 missed 3's (ant least 12 by Lebron).

Kenny smith let us know that the whole thing was planned and executed in 31 hours. They wanted to help out as soon as possible. That is why it was so "rushed". IMO everyone out there looked like how they should have considering it is the off season and they just wanted to put on a show for the fans! If anyone watched it, it seemed like they intended to play a lil bit more seriously in the 1st quarter, but when Tmac had that monster dunk that got the crowd on its feet...the players agreed to just put on a show.
Yah, this game was nothing but an exhibition game. And YES they did what they came for, which of course was the most important issue of the weekend... But yes, I think I saw better "Rock & Jock" games presented by MTV then from what I saw last night... Guys were just hoisting up three's and threw weak behind-the-back passes to each other to which the receivers did nothing but throw up another three point shot. And as for Lebron, I don't know if he even made any 3 point shot that he threw up... I know he did this nice dunk from a pass he caught, but thats about it... It was a weird format; each qtr was only ten minutes, and when there was a time-out, the clock was still ticking. And even though they had West vs East, they still mixed up the players; they had east coast players play on the West, west coast players play on East. So if you think about it, it should've been "Home Vs Away"... But in any event, it was good to see some sort of B-ball... Now I REALLY can't wait till the NBA starts!!!!!! Someone here said that kobe looked like he got Barry Bonds big, but I don't think he did at all, he still looks the same to me. But then again maybe I just wasn't trying to look for that. All-in-all, he looks like he's in tip-top shape, and I feel very confident he's going to surprise everybody this year.....

I knew it was just for fun and to raise funds for the people in need...
For what it was and how little time they had to organize this event, I thought they did an admirable job. I didn't have high expectations for this event, but I did enjoy watching NBA players on the court again, pre-season can't start soon enough. There were some great passes, but unfortunately most of them led to turnovers or missed field goals. I thought Gilbert Arenas looked amazing on the court last night, especially the reverse layup he pulled off. I'd say him and T-Mac played the best from their respective sides. The mid-court 3point shootout was entertaining, and there were some wicked dunks by T-Mac, Amare, JR Smith, and Dahntay Jones. The best Kobe highlight was when he did the Jordan ball fake (palming the ball in one hand and faking a pass) and LeBron James completely fell for it, leading to a wide open dunk by KG. It was nice seeing Artest back on the court as well, he didn't look very rusty, and is still in great shape despite sitting out the entire season. I'm also glad some other players showed up last minute for the event to support the charity efforts, Carmelo, Iverson, Avery Johnson, Mario Elie, and few others. Charles Barkley's comments are always great, too.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I'm also glad some other players showed up last minute for the event to support the charity efforts, Carmelo, Iverson, Avery Johnson, Mario Elie, and few others.</div> Wasn't Carmelo already scheduled? And from my knowledge Avery Johnson was already set some time ago to be the coach of the West team. Nevertheless it was good to see A.I (which also received the biggest ovation for the entire even and should have played since I seen at least 8 kids with A.I jerseys on), Mario Ellie like you said shape, Jon Barry and Pat Ewing. Well anyways just seeing the guys on the court gets you more and more eager for the NBA to start. Was it me, or was Kevin Garnett really passionate and into the game? At one point he was screaming at the refs for some calls when attacking the rim and also screaming "Get that ish outta here" when blocking Arenas lay-up attempt. It was quite hilarious if you ask me. Lastly, Dwyane Wade was completely invincible throughout the game, sorta looked like he had the jitters, yeah the jitters, for a charity game.
The game was great, I saw the whole thing and I have been waiting to see NBA players play since forever it seems like. It was for an incredible cause and Im glad they played it. Some plays I absolutely loved: Steve Francis, faking out Jones then spins by him then does a layup backwards. Also that Kobe to T-mac Alley-oop was incredible. Overall it was just great and I enjoyed watching it.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting PlaTsanity:</div><div class="quote_post">why was lue wearing a pistons jersey?</div> The Hawks couldn't get him a jersey in time. The Hawks organization is is obviously un-organized.

You are an extraordinarily biased KB8 fan aren't you? You talk about LeBron needing to work on his shot? LBJ shot 47% from the field last year while your boy Kobe shot 43%. Wanna talk about 3 point shooting? LBJ shot 35% while Kobe shot just under 34%. You say that LBJ is unwilling to work on his game? Then how can you explain his FG% going up from 41% to 47% in one season? Or his 3 point percent going from 29% to 35%? But your "boy" Kobe who works so hard has a FG% that has gone down 3 years in a row. And over the last two years his 3 point percentage has gone from 38% to 33.9%. Yes, for one night LBJ couldn't get his shot going during a charity game but who doesnt have off-nights?

There was no possible way that the players were playing their hardest. It was all fun and games last night. Also I see that Ron Artest has gone back to jersey number 15.
