WOOOOOOOOOO DAN LE WINNNS. That's very cool Dan, you guys are gonna start a win-streak, I can feel it. D-Mac is commminggggg.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Dan Le:</div><div class="quote_post">Jeez, we don't have our jersies made yet so we where bibs so the refs could indentify us..no big deal... Also we won! 43-22 or something, I score 7 points, 3 boards, 6 assists..Coulda got more points but I threw some alleys up on fast breaks, also got some big blocks and shouted at some guy after I did, haha! good fun...</div> YAAAA!!!!!!!! I bet the girls on your team made sure the other team only scored 22 points. C'mon, Australians can't shoot or something?
Thanks MagnoMonkey <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Locke:</div><div class="quote_post">YAAAA!!!!!!!! I bet the girls on your team made sure the other team only scored 22 points. Dan congrats on chalking up your first 'W.' After reading the player profiles of your teammates, it sounds like they have a lot of bad habits and haven't spent time learning the fundamentals of the game. As the PG, you can really dictate the offense and force your teammates to stop over dribbling and showing off. You can run plays away from the showoffs, and create shot attempts for people who play defense and get the job done. Just let everyone know, they aren't getting the ball on offense unless they play defense and learn how to share the basketball. You guys should work on running a lot of pick and rolls and back door cuts. When I've played in social or casual leagues, most teams have no idea how to defend those plays and switch properly. It leads to a lot of layups or wide open jump shots.

Therefore, it warms my heart that there are some people even worse than me on the other half of the planet.

You know Trip, Hakeem Olajuwon hadn't picked up a basketball till he was almost 17, so you can't really doubt yourself. There's always a possibility. And if playing doesn't work out for you, you could always be a coach. Your basketball knowledge alone could make you a great coach.

No possiblity here. (I'm not trying to sound sadistic or pitiful here, just saying...) Yea, I'm doing volunteer work as the assistant coach in a rec league for 12 year-olds, but I'd rather be a journalist. Writing's been a favorite thing of mine and I'm planning on taking journalism in college, then hopefully apply to law school.
Hehe cool to hear you get that magical first win Dan. Now here's for plenty more to come. I got nothin better to do now since soccer and bball seasons over here lol. I'm actually playin more American Football now lol ranging from touch to flag to full contact kk. Rugby doesnt apeal as much kk.
Football is a term used very loosely in Australia. It can get confusing because people use that word for different sports. enerally speaking, "the word "football" isn't used very often because it means so many different things. It can mean Australian Rules or AFL (Australian Football League), soccer, or Rugby. Generally Speaking Rugby Union is called "Rugby" Rugby League is called "League" Soccer is called "Soccer" or Football for the Euro people in Aus. And Aussie Rulles is called "AFL" or "Footy".
I haven't heard anyone call Rugby 'Football' here, my mates and me just call Aussie Rules 'Football' or 'Footie' and American Football we call gridiron.
yeah same here except when theres a rugby game on, the advertisers say " Come and watch the footie". Noone really ever called rugby football here except for the advertiser guys . Only gridiron or soccer are called football here.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Locke:</div><div class="quote_post">What's Aussie Rules?</div> It's Aussie Rules Football, just a different version of football with different rules and structures.. Also we lost on tuesday again, by about 30... I had 8 points, 4 boards and 6 assists
How long did that reply take??? Anyways, my rec league has been running for two weeks now. I'll start my own thread once we begin real games instead of just scrimmages.
I can't wait to play basketball again, I haven't picked up the ball in months, but I'm joining a rec league. At 6'1 195, I'm hoping I can pound the ball in and earn the nickname "Little Yao."
Haha chineseafro, it isn't hard to earn that nickname when ur Asian eh... Oh we lost again, no big suprise, by 10 points I only scored 4, couldn't hit open shots, our SG sprained his ankle, lmao I think it was because at school I could touch the ring and he REALLY tries, like he does leg exercises and ankle weights but couldn't come close, we're both 5'7 so I felt pretty good about that
I can't remember how many times our basketball team has been beaten either. It's to some extent consoling that only 2 or 3 times out of approximate 10 games we won by a very tiny margin it's me made the final shot~ I'm not bluffing. If permitted, I'll make a video of a game.
