<div class="quote_poster">Quoting B-22:</div><div class="quote_post">how did labor talk have anything to do with it?</div> they already had the verbal agreement, all they needed to do was get the contract signed, but the labor talk kept pushing the FA period back, so cleveland all of a sudden decides they want him and offer him huge bucks. if the FA period started when it should have, we would have signed him already. but like i said, oh well, its just a center. sure he is a pro bowl player, but we have more pressing needs as of now than to improve our o-line
lets also sign will witherspoon. im very high on this guy, and to think a lb corps of barber, trotter, and witherspoon......
Will is in NO today and they say he is expected to have a new t eam in 24 hours....hopefully the jags still have a chance
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting phiLA:</div><div class="quote_post">lets also sign will witherspoon. im very high on this guy, and to think a lb corps of barber, trotter, and witherspoon......</div> I don't think we are that itnerested in him. I think where setting the stage if we dont sign him to take Simms (Florida State OLB) in the first round. If we do sign another OLB we will draft Chad Jackson hopefully.
I remember that I signed both Witherspoon and Arrington in Madden 2006 and thought that it would be so cool if the Eagles had them in real life. Now there's an opportunity but the Eagles won't even sign one of them cause the keyword is "Be As Cheap As Possible"

I dont want to lose either of them.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Best Kept Secret:</div><div class="quote_post">Considering both Dawkins and Michael Lewis hit free agency next off season that might not be that bad a key phrase. I dont want to lose either of them.</div> If Im not mistaken then Ed Reed should be a FA the year Lewis is (Heard that he wants big money and Ravens had a problem with that) If we would get a chance to get hands on Reed Id choose him over Lewis. Dawkins won't get as much money as he does now so it ain't a problem. I don't say that the Eagles must use all of their cap but Id be Ok if they'd use 1/3rd of it or half of it not sign guys for 1 year and 1 million per season. I want to get a big named player,I just want to get a championship to Philly...
Darren Howard says he "wants to get back on the winning side" and believes he could do just that in Philadelphia. The former Saints defensive end met with team officials Sunday, underwent a physical and will remain in town until Monday morning. Will he sign before leaving? "Anthing's possible," Howard told a gathering of reporters Sunday afternoon. "We'll just see how everything works out." In his six seasons in New Orleans, Howard was referred to as "the cornerstone" of that defense. He was so highly regarded that the Saints twice used the franchise tag on him during the time of free agency, limiting his mobility. But after an injury-plagued 2005 season that limited Howard to 12 games and 3 ½ quarterback sacks, the Saints understood it was more practical to give Howard a chance to shop his services. Howard will have dinner with the coaches Sunday night, at which time they could put on the full-court press for his services. Howard says he has no visits scheduled, although there is interest from other teams.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting phiLA:</div><div class="quote_post">darren howard has signed with the eagles!! yes!</div>
think about this DE rotation of howard and kearse. promising rookie trent cole, and mcdougle, if he finally gets healthy. damn! that would be a force! lets get rocky bernard as our DT and we'll be set on defense!
Yeah right, Akin was not one of our best defenders...he was one of the worst because he does not fit our 4-3 D well...the jaguars let him walk....he should fit well in dallas' 3-4 defense. we'll likely draft an OLB although we still have the money to sign one
they usually dont persue big name players...but they signed a DB out of Minny who seems solid because they really needed a right cb. They also signed a lineman who fell out of blace in buffalo..mike williams...a formed top 5 pick in the draft if Im not mistaken. If he can get back in shape/motivated again he can be a very good pickup from what Im hearing....
Former Cincinnati tight end Matt Schobel signed a five-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. Schobel caught 90 passes for 938 yards and nine touchdowns in four seasons with the Bengals. He's expected to play behind starter L.J. Smith. Schobel is the third free agent signed by the Eagles in the past week. Linebacker Shawn Barber got a one-year deal last week, and defensive end Darren Howard signed a six-year contract March 13. Cincinnati selected the 6-foot-5, 255-pound Schobel in the third round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He started 10 games as a rookie, but only three since. Schobel caught 18 passes for 193 yards and one TD last season. Schobel has experience as a holder on extra points and field goals, making him more valuable should the Eagles release longtime holder and backup quarterback Koy Detmer. He also played special teams and was a backup long snapper in Cincinnati.
