<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Best Kept Secret:</div><div class="quote_post">I would love to draft Bing considering both Lewis and Dawkins will be hitting the open market next off season it will be good to have a guy in the wing that came from a winning program that we can play just in case we lose one of them.</div>

Forget Bing, look not farther than Ko Simpson out of South Carolina. The only reason in my mind that he is falling this far is that he is very inexperienced, and we don't need a safety to play right now. Draft Simpson, let him learn behind Dawkins, and he'll be your starting in two year's.

In other news...ALL HAIL BUNK, ALL HAIL BUNk, ALL HAIL BUNK

Along with Justice in round 2, this is one of the best draft's ever.

Gocong Led Nation in Sacks in '04 and '05

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Having added a defensive and offensive tackle in the first two rounds, the Eagles in the third round addressed their need for a linebacker.

They moved up five spots and selected linebacker/defensive end Chris Gocong out of Division I-AA Cal Poly (short for California State Polytechnic University). The Eagles sent the 76th overall pick and their seventh-round pick (220th) to the Jets for the 71st overall pick.

In Gocong (6-2, 263), the Eagles have themselves another player who rewrote the Division I-AA record books (Brian Westbrook being the other). Last season, Gocong set set a new I-AA record with 23? sacks, which led Division I, and won the Buck Buchanan Award, given to the top I-AA defensive player.

?In a way, you can compare it to Brian, where they?re coming from a smaller school, but they?re super productive,? general manager Tom Heckert said. ?This guys is the most productive player in the whole division, in all of college football. You take that over playing at a smaller level of competition.?

In his junior season, the Mustangs moved Gocong from nose guard to defensive end and led Division I with 17 sacks. He finished second that season in the voting for the Buck Buchanan Award.

With the Eagles, Gocong is expected to compete at strongside linebacker with Dhani Jones, who was a disappointment last year.

?I think I can make a great transition to that,? Gocong said. ?The way we run our defense at Cal Poly, I?m not a straight up defensive end. I play a lot of stand up. Even though I never pass drop or anything, I think I?m athletic enough to transition into it.?

Gocong played inside linebacker in high school, where he also played quarterback. He wasn?t heavily recruited out of high school and didn?t consider a career in football at the time. He graduated Cal Poly with a degree in general engineering.

?I went to Cal Poly for the engineering. I played football because it was fun,? Gocong said. ?Not to go to the NFL or anything like that.?

Not until the Falcons drafted his teammate, linebacker Jordan Beck, last season did the possibility of going pro seem realistic.

?Then I knew it was possible to make it into a career,? Gocong said. ?Up until then, it was just having fun.?

In the East-West Shrine Game, Gocong proved that he could handle playing with Division I athletes. He finished with two tackles for losses, including a sack.

?He went out there and dominated in that game, too,? coach Andy Reid said. ?He was very impressive.?

?People were doubting me being able to play against bigger competition, and I think I proved them wrong,? Gocong said. I had a couple of good plays, and a couple of close sacks. I should?ve finished the plays. I think I did one and made a name for myself in that game.?</div>

    Jason Avant's Draft Profile:

    Positives:
Jason Avant has the best pair of hands in college football. He is a hard worker who will always try to get better. He is tough going across the middle and can take a hit and get back up. Terrific down-field blocker who uses his good size to engage smaller cornerbacks. Runs excellent routes. Uses his body to get into better position to make the catch. Very physical and can get off of press coverage at the line. Prototypical No. 2 receiver.

    Negatives:
Avant has only average speed and isn't very elusive after the catch. Doesn't show a second gear. He wasn't nearly as productive as the other top wideouts who are draft eligible. Most of that can be attributed to playing across from Braylon Edwards in a running offense. Even though he is a taller wideout, he won't win a lot of jump balls.

    Eagles drafted Jeremy Bloom.
NFL.Com says about his Return Ability:
His open-field running ability, aggressiveness, explosiveness and elite playing speed make him very dangerous.

After JR got injured and we lost NFL's best return man our special teams sucked so much. Now we may have a good returner again

    Bloom = Steal!

He is going to be more of a kick returner/punt returner than wide out.

Yeah, he went to the olympics which is why he has not played football in over a year at the college level.

^Nah. Because he still trains and stuff like that. He's gonna be a good kick returner to fill in for JR Reed and like Andy Reid said, he's a pretty nice reciever too.
