<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Gerald Wallace's agent hopes to close a deal with the Charlotte Bobcats by the end of the week. Agent Rob Pelinka will meet with Bobcats officials today, looking to finish a contract that would keep Wallace in town. "This will be our third meeting in person, and every meeting has been productive. Hopefully we'll come out with a deal. ... I feel it's pretty close," Pelinka told the Observer on Wednesday. Signing Wallace would just about wrap up the Bobcats' roster entering training camp next month. Wallace started 68 games last season, averaging 11.1 points and 5.5 rebounds. Bobcats coach-general manager Bernie Bickerstaff was similarly hopeful Wednesday. "We want to make a deal. It's a matter of us agreeing on value," Bickerstaff said. "That's why we've got to come to some resolution." A source familiar with the situation says the Bobcats have offered Wallace a three-year deal that approximates the NBA's $5.million mid-level exception. While not addressing what the Bobcats offered, Pelinka acknowledged Wallace's restricted free-agent status limits his market value this offseason. "It does create a possible chilling effect," Pelinka said. "Look at (restricted free agents) Eddy Curry of Chicago and Vladimir Radmanovic of Seattle. None of those players had offers" from other teams.</div> Source
