<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Though he didn't have the smoothest of beginnings with the 76ers, Chris Webber is looking forward to his first full season with the team.

There certainly were some good moments, but also many frustrating ones in a difficult transition for the five-time all-star after he was traded by Sacramento in a six-player deal in February.

With the Sixers, Webber averaged 15.6 points and 7.9 rebounds after having averaged 21.3 points and 9.7 boards earlier in the season with the Kings. In the five-game playoff series against Detroit, he averaged 19 points and 5.8 rebounds while shooting 41.1 percent from the field.

Webber, 32, at times looked out of place with the Sixers, raising questions about his surgically repaired left knee and whether it would hold up through the final three years and $62 million of his contract.

"My knee feels great, and before February, nobody was saying anything about the knee," Webber said yesterday in a phone interview from his native Detroit, where he was collecting goods and money for victims of Hurricane Katrina. "The knee felt fine."

Although Webber won't say it, he wasn't happy with his role in the offense employed by former coach Jim O'Brien. Often used at the high post, the 6-foot-10 245-pounder in effect became a jump-shooter for the Sixers. He shot just 39.1 percent from the field in 21 regular-season games.</div>

Even though there may have been no pain in hC Webb's knee, he still suffered from it because he didn't have time to rehab it so it can regain its strength. Not to mention Webb's knee also swelled when he got lots of action such as in back to back games and the 76ers have a lot of those this year.

...He was pretty much limping from offense to defense during games.

Anyways, a lot of reasons contributed to his low stats as a Sixer for the second half of the season. He was playing in a totally new system that conflicted with what he had been playing with for the past couple years, his bum knee, no team chemistry, and his shot was off for the most part. Good to hear that his knee's fine and hopefully he won't get down with a bad injury like Mashburn sometime during those three years left on his contract.
