Stephon Marbury definitely has the talent to make the squad but with the Knicks doing poorly people look at him as the reason and say thats why he shouldnt be an all star. But with Marbury doing his thing and the Knicks improving do you guys think Starbury will make the All Star Game this season?

I dont think Starbury will make the squad this year, there's just too many talented players infront of him like Allen Iverson, Dwyane Wade, Gilbert Arenas, Jason Kidd, Vince Carter and possibly Paul Pierce and Vince Carter depending on what you classify them as.

Stephon is talented but not this year unless one of the other guys gets injured.

I think he would make it if his PPG was high enough. He did help the East win a few years ago shooting treys aganist Kobe.

I agree with buckets, theres just too much talent ahead of starbury. The East is known for its guards and starbury just doesnt bring anything special that makes him stand out. I think it will also take some time for him to get used to having larry brown and working in larry's system. This would most likely affect his performance and hence chances of getting into the all star team.

I agree with Buckets as well, too much talent ahead. Will Lebron be classified as a forward this year? or still a guard?

I agree with everyone else, there is just to much talent at the guard spots in the east.

A thread like this is relatively pointless when training camp has yet to even start...hypthetically, the Knicks could go 25-18 at the break and Marbury averaging 22/9/4 and then yes, he could make it...but the point is we wont know until 2-3 months into the season...

It mostly depends on the Knicks record I think. If the Knicks are winning he has a pretty good shot. If the Knicks are losing then he's going to be watching the All Star game at home.

Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.

I think that if Marbury is placed at the SG position, as I have heard Brown would, then he will be in the All-Star game (whether people vote him in or whether coaches do). I think that it will be a positive thing for him to make the switch becuase he will do what he does best: Score. I would not be surprised if he average 30+ points at SG, on top of the excellent defense that he can play.

Just my two cents on the topic at hand. TheTruth5, don't take things so personally, people were not voicing opinions against you, just considering the theme of whether things like this can or can not be determined at a certain period of time.

Hear, hear. Staurbury also is brash enough to play SG at his height. 30 ppg is very feasible to me, espeically if he does primarily play SG for LB. It'll be very interesting if Starbury wins MVP this year(long shot, but still a legit one), like AI when LB switched him from PG to SG. I'll say this; for Starbury to make the ASG, he will have to have one heck of a season leading up to that point.

If you ask me, I think this reply is pointless. Houston was just saying it is impossible to make predictions like this so early in the season. Don't say "for your moody essay writing projects" - Houston is a great writer and is not doing anything negative to this forum. Please refrain from making posts like this.
