Gary Payton on verge of signing with Heat Heat set to sign Payton <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Agent Aaron Goodwin confirmed Wednesday night that Payton will arrive in South Florida today and sign a one-year contract.</div> wow. you guys are going to be stacked!
Great move. And the reduced MPG will make Gary a much better player as it did for Robert Horry when he went to the Spurs. Best part is it was for the minimum. Pat Riley is the best GM in the world.
HAHAHA, alot of people are going to be mad now. I think that Gary Payton will be good for the team bring in some experience to the team.
This new look Miami team would either win 65 games or become the equivalent of the 1999-2000 Portland Trail Blazers. Star power is definitely good, but without chemistry, the Heat won't win a championship. However, this rotation currently in place can go two deep at every position and will definitely be a top three team in the East. In the end, the Heat could either disintegrate into the 03-04 Lakers or become the 05-06 champions.

The only type of player missing I can see is an athletic big man and maybe another shooter. The Heat roster is ridiculously loaded though.
I will be honest at first I didnt want him, but now that I think about it this move is not all that bad. Most importantly we get a hungry veteran that needs his ring before he retires and considering we have the lineup to do it and we have hungry vets were looking good. First and foremost I trust SHAQUILLE ONEAL so if he wanted Gary Payton to come to Miami and said it would benefit the team..Then it would. Knowing this is his last chance for that ring then obviously he wont let the immature negative talk ruin the team, hes smarter then that.
