Payton Expects to Bring "Oomph" to the Heat <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">To Gary Payton, the Heat's star-laden roster remix is not about "oohs" and "ahhs." It's about "oomph." Shortly after signing a one-year contract for the $1.1 million veteran's minimum Thursday, the nine-time NBA All-Star reflected on the last time the Heat was on the court. When asked why a team two minutes away from last June's NBA Finals would undertake such a drastic offseason overhaul, the 37-year-old point guard alluded to the disastrous final seconds of Game 7 against Detroit, when Shaquille O'Neal and Dwyane Wade were hobbled and Damon Jones was fumbling away a season. To Payton, that provided more than enough clarity behind the reasoning of Heat President Pat Riley to reload with a group of newcomers that also includes Antoine Walker, Jason Williams and James Posey. "Pat has won championships, and he knows what to do to get that extra `oomph,'" Payton said. "I think that he felt like that extra `oomph' wasn't there and they needed some more athletes. "I think Pat realized he didn't have that maturity. With Shaq getting hurt and Wade getting hurt, I think he needed someone who could make big shots and big plays. I think he went out and did that."</div> Source
This right here is gon be like LA 2 years ago all over again. Too much damn talent, and then they gon fall short of a championship. I'm not buyin into this bullshit.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting playmaker15:</div><div class="quote_post">^^^Less cursing bro, less ego's on this team than in L.A as well.</div> Less ego's? In LA, there was Kobe, Shaq, and Payton. Here, Payton and Shaq are back, and add to them Walker and Williams, who are known for having egos, especially Walker. This team will have a much tougher time than the LA team did, chemistry wise.
