<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"Jay has decided to go somewhere else," the general manager said. "We just cannot get in a situation where we can guarantee him anything."</div> http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentSe...ol=970081562040 Well who needs Williams when we have Tierre Brown coming our way I would've liked to see Williams in a Raptor jersey but oh well, he'll only be a 3 string pg anyways...... so no biggie.
Not really, playmaker14. According to Babcock, Williams didn't want to sign with the Raptors because he wanted a guaranteed contract and situation. It would be a stretch to say that Houston would offer him a guaranteed contract, and ludicrous to think that he would get any playing time in Houston. Sura, James, and even Head will be ahead of him in the rotation. If Williams is true to his word and would only sign with a team that guarantees him playing time, then I think he could be looking for a long time.
well now houston is looking for another free agent point guard because of sura's knee plus Houston has been looking to unload some guards. So i don't think its that far fetched in fact I can see it happening now. Since houston is the only team left he either takes any deal they give him or he waits till next year, but I think Houston will end up picking him up.
Course with the way the media and a lot of Babcock bashers act. <u>IF</u> Jay Williams plays for Houston and plays well, everyone will go off about how Babcock sucks for not offering him a guaranteed contract. I personally think it was worth the risk to offer him a guaranteed contract, look at who we are bring in instead?!?!? A bunch of guys that aren't gonna play anyways. I fail to see the difference between taking on some guy that could play good but if not no biggy and taking on some guy that can't play and isn't gonna play. Take a risk Babs!
^^ babcock is just paranoid about taking risks he has took so many risks and got bashed by fans/media for them *cough* hoffa *cough* but yeah i agree..i would have loved to see J.W in a raps uniform
well, although this doesnt confirm that his team will be Houston, its almost likely...who else was pursuing him aggressively?...Its very possible that its Houston if the Rockets plan to waive or trade Charlie Ward and Moochie Norris...which means that if they do trade Ward or Norris, it'll likely be for some draft picks or such since adding another player doesnt make sense for the roster if Williams is on his way in...I dont know, I'm 50/50 on Williams coming here but its looking more likely that he'll end up as a Rocket unless another team that we werent aware of likes him a lot...
I hope we don't get Tierre Brown, Palacio is better than him. Brown is not a real PG, he's bad defensively, and really he brings nothing to the table. Robert Pack, well, yea...
Yeah that sucks about Jay Williams. Is there any alternative plan in case Alvin Williams is too injured to play or Jose Calderon isn't getting it done? How about Derek Fisher for a small expiring contract either this year or next year? Any takers? What would Toronto's other options be if they wanted an experienced vet until they can get a point guard the next draft season? Teams would have to be willing to move someone and usually it's a guy in between a starter and a bench player or a disgruntled star.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">How about Derek Fisher for a small expiring contract either this year or next year? I hope no one signs J Will and Babcock decides to give the guy a chance. lol, I don't think Derek Fisher's big contract would be a solution. I never understood why they signed him to such a big contract.
Honestly i'm not going to give babcock any flack over this one. The more gauranteed money we have to pay him just makes the situation less attractive. It's good that we're not too trigger happy to get a deal done.

It looks more and more likely that the rockets will trade for draft picks to cut the roster. Locke is right about Jay Will having a slim chance of reaching the Rockets, but I don't think he will be as unproductive as you guys make him out to be. I have no evidence to back it up except my experience in watching this guy take Duke to the national championship and let me just say he is a competitor.
