I think that was Florent, not Mickael...

Which one? The reverse, the shot or the finish?

    Edit: you were right...

I was talking about the jumpshot but i guess you figured it out. Great performance by Pietrus though.

I gueses #11, Florent Pietrus, had the majority of highlight action and easy breakaway dunks. It seems as if Florent plays in the same style like his brother because I could not tell the difference between the two from far away. Their styles are really similar with the open court play, the quick shot off the dribble and their ability to just take someone off the dribble going to the rack despite their unpolished ballhandling skills.

Also I expecting Pietrus to wear his number 2 jersey, but I wonder if Pietrus chose #8 or if he was assigned it because his #2 was taken. 8 is interesting because I think the player he tries to emulate is Kobe Bryant. In an interview about playing basketball video games, he revealed that he likes to play as Kobe Bryant while his brother plays Mickael Pietrus. Nice running reverse jam by Pietrus by the way, but I could have sworn that was Mickael Pietrus launching a long two off the dribble but it turned out to be Florent.

In international game, captain usually wears no. 4 and rest of them wears no. 5 to how many people they have, so I don't think we wore 8 to for Kobe.

They really do look similar and make me wonder why his older brother didn't (or couldn't) try for NBA...

Well, I know scouts have had their eye on him for a while. The problem I thought was that he played PF for his team when he was really only about the same size as Pietrus but more muscular. I'll tell you what, I could not tell perimiterally a difference except for that ugly jump shot. He looked like he could take it to the rack from the perimiter with ease...

lol - I told you guys, when Pietrus was injured last season, to get his brother on the team as back up copy... He does play PF in Spain, but then again PF in Europe is not the same thing as in NBA.

I hope to see some highlights after 2 years with Biedrins, this year national team managers agreed that he should stay and get ready for the season (he had some 10 coaches working with him this summer). Cant' whait for the season to begin.

You definitely called it [IMG] Although those were just the highlights, he seemed to have the same style of play and that's all that matters. Energy, some shot off the dribble and the ability to go all the way to the rack or finishing on a break. Thanks for giving us the heads up over there in Europe [IMG]

BTW, is Florent any good at defending small forward as well as point guard/shooting guard?

Is anyone worried about the comments Mickael made during media day regarding playing time?

Personally I don't think it will be a big deal because he will get minutes 25-30 a night, and we will be winning.

I am a little worried, but he has always made comments like that. I hope he plays well and earns some time, but if Dunleavy outplays him, he has no room to complain. I think we will find a role for him on the team. A huge spark off the bench and to shut down a perimeter player if he is hot...

I think he's just saying that to challenge Dunleavy, Mullin, Montgomery or whoever. It's an uptempo style of game we have now and I think guys like Pietrus, Diogu, Taft, Biedrins will fit in more with a running team that likes to play energetic or with more physical play (maybe not Taft but sometimes). Dunleavy as well since he can play open court and actually thrives there when he has the ball, but guys like Pietrus, Diogu, Taft, Biedrins are more rounded defensively, tougher, more energetic, sometimes better finishers going inside, in addition to being above average open court players. I won't include the rookies so much since they are unproven, but they got the tools to achieve quite a bit.

Yeah Diogu is slow but who else can we dump it inside to draw some fouls and create some offense there? It's proven (well not really proven yet, since it was one game that had Ellis dish out 7 or 8 assists versus his usual 2 or none) that when the point guard starts passing, he really shines because he knows where to be and how to establish position way ahead of everyone else because of his court recognition, body frame, strength and hustle.
