our other guards just dont cut it imo and we need to get rid of a few even now and get some decent talent.
I think it makes no difference if Sura will absent in the beginning of the season,James will start instead ,he has proved himself a good shooter, though he cannt get as many rebs as Sura does,Swift will do it very well. His good defense may to some extent relieve Yao's foul problem,Yao will get more time and get more rebs.

There's no need to worry so much when we have capable back ups such as Mike James, Anderson, Head or even Moochie and Ward. It's not the same situation when Sura was out after All Star break last season when Rod Strickland was massacred by opposing point guards which made the Rockets trade for James to stop the bleeding. Who knows this situation may give Head an opportunity to gain confidence and experience instead of the possibility of being send to the NBDL in his first year.

However, knowing Van Gundy, he won't hesitate to bench Head for one bad play, because JVG is all about winning. Rock4life, Sura had surgery on the front of his knee earlier in the summer, and now he's having surgery on the back of the knee. The two aren't related. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">?We?re always looking (at roster moves), but he?s been hurt all summer,? Dawson said. ?It?s been a little bump in the road. It was the back part of the knee (that proved to be a problem) that we hadn?t anticipated, and I think that?s where the catch is. But we still have Mike James, we still have Moochie Norris. A lot of people might not realize this, but Luther (Head) played point guard in high school, so he?s very comfortable with the ball. So we?ve still got some guards. (David) Wesley can handle (the ball), Derek (Anderson) can handle. We?re still looking but we?re not going to just jump and do something because we?ve known about this for a long time.?</div>Like bplld mentioned already, Dawson omitted Ward. Is it because of his health problems or is it his exclusion from the rotation? At least this could mean that we're not looking to waive Norris.
Sura's loss is crucial. I don't like DA at starting PG, because that means that Wesley will be starting. Don't get me wrong, I like Anderson at point, but starting pg is taking it overboard. I think it's time to trade Wesley. He's ain't a difference maker. I don't you know if ya'll remember, (help me out) but a couple seasons ago, it was a kid that was in training camp with the last name Scales (i think that's it). 6'3 guy. He played very well for us. Anybody remember?
Alex Scales? he's alright but wesley is better than him... The Rockets have mentioned that Wesley is in the best shape of his career since his rookie season. Dawson also mentioned that after Wes' knee surgery this season, his shot is looking better and smoother and there is no pain in the knee... As for Ward, here's an excerpt from the Houston Chronicle this morning; ===================================== Ward weighs options Rockets guard Charlie Ward said Wednesday he has spoken to the team about assuming another position with the franchise but that he would first try to come back as a player when training camp begins next week. Ward played in just 14 games before missing the rest of last season after surgery on his right knee. "I'm doing well, as well as expected," Ward said. "I'm going to prepare to try to participate and see how it goes from there. I've been doing minor court drills, but I haven't been playing. I'm not where I would be normally, but I'm much better than I was last year. "That (a position with the team if he can't play) is to be determined. I'm proceeding with training camp and working to try to play this year." Glover may be invited Dion Glover, one of the stars of the Rockets' summer league team, could soon get an invitation to training camp with a chance to make it back to the NBA. Glover, former Kentucky forward Chuck Hayes (who also played well in Minneapolis in July) and former Kansas forward Keith Langford all took physicals Wednesday and could be signed to non-guaranteed contracts in time for the start of practices Tuesday. Glover, a 6-5 forward/guard, has averaged 8.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in six NBA seasons, including several productive years with the Atlanta Hawks. "I think all three will be signed," general manager Carroll Dawson said. "They (Glover and Hayes) know the system and will fill in well." ======================================================= I think if Ward is not ready to play, Glover would be an adequate fit...however he is a 2-guard and has no experience at PG...this just means that James and DA would see the vast majority of minutes at PG...James may be looking at playing 30-35 minutes at Point, and that scares me because I'm not fond of his decision-making and control of the ball...I see him as more of a scorer than distributor...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Houston:</div><div class="quote_post">Alex Scales? he's alright but wesley is better than him......</div> Scales is more athletic, faster, and can become a better defender. Wesley is slow, and reduced to being a outside threat. Scales is also a better ball handler. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Houston:</div><div class="quote_post"> Ward weighs options Rockets guard Charlie Ward said Wednesday he has spoken to the team about assuming another position with the franchise but that he would first try to come back as a player when training camp begins next week.</div> That would be the worst move the Rockets could EVER make. Sura's injury prone enough, then you bring back ANOTHER injury prone guy, who's 10 years older and slower. The Rockets need to move in a new direction. Ward had a shot last year, and are record was horrible.

If Scales is so good, why isn't he in the NBA?

Worse than trading away Richard Jefferson or signing Cato to a monstrous contract? <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Sura's future clouded Scheduled for knee surgery today, guard says career in jeopardy; Rockets disagree By JONATHAN FEIGEN Copyright 2005 Houston Chronicle With his right knee so damaged that his doctor called it "a train wreck," Rockets point guard Bob Sura will undergo surgery today that he says could determine if he will ever play again. Sura, a key to the Rockets' 2004-05 turnaround when he came back from offseason back surgery, underwent arthroscopic surgery in May to clean out loose particles in the knee that pained him for much of last season. But he said the knee hasn't improved. "I'm going to undergo another knee surgery ... and don't know how it's going to respond," Sura said Wednesday. "I have some serious problems in there ? arthritis and bone on bone and some cartilage damage ? so I really don't know. I don't have a good answer. Hopefully, I'll be able to get through another season or two, but I really don't know."</div> Source There's the report on his condition.
I could really careless about Charlie Ward's condition. Him playing again shouldn't even be a option. He's old, slow, and the worst defender at his position on the team. The league has changed too much for teams to have a 40 year old point guard out there. I'd much rather pick up Glover, and make him 3rd string point.
i remember scale. he was realy good. i was dissapointed that we got wilks instead of him. hes probaly will be alot better than wesley someday. i think hes still young. he was a good 3 pointer shooter too.

He played very well for us. I was very impressed. He's young, quick, and athletic.
