the best rank a player can get is 99 in that game and 80 is pretty high, he ranked higher than ben gordon(76) and emeka okafor!! does he deserve this rank??? will he improve big next season?
No he does not deserve that. All he can do is dunk and block. Is being a high flyer add to your rank?
i wonder how high they rate joe johnson if its lower than smith, and i think it is then what the hell are they trying to say. That smith is better than JJ? in nba live 2005 wasnt iverson like 82, and lebron like 75? thats crazy to rank him that high when he hasnt proven to be even close to it. you cant rate potential that high!

Pretty certain about the LeBron rating not sure about Iverson.
iverson was a 85 lebron was a 92 im pretty sure im pretty sure that this year lebrons about a 95 iverson is a 89 and jj is a 87-89 i cant remember. but rankings r ridicolous outlaw from portland is rated a 75 and i dont think he played more that 7-10 min a game
You do know it is a videogame? Their ranking system for players does not represent real life as things like athleticism are weighed just as much as concrete basketball skill. Josh Smith rated high because he has 90's in dunk and jump, and can block shots, he's not that good in the game. It's more of a flawed rating system than them predicting him to be better than those guys mentioned.
^ I wouldn't say its flawed, you just have to take into account that athleticism and dunking and whatnot are taken into account more.
Well it's flawed in the sense of rating an NBA player. Being able to do different dunks does not make you a good player. Kedrick Brown was a super athlete, and well, he's not in the league anymore. Having the handles, offensive ability, and first step to be able to score 20 PPG as a wingman is a lot more important than being able to do different dunks or jump really high. The jumping ability can relate to other things like allowing you to finish insider better, block shots, get higher on your jumper etc, but the weighting is not as much.

I'd say the average rating for the whole game would be low 70s possibly. Remember in Live 04 when Bron-Bron was a 69! Now Chris Paul and Raymond Felton are like 74 easily. Every year they up the ratings to "blur" it, so more players can reach the 90's in less time. Plus the fact that young players (Wade, Lebron) are playing like elite superstars helps f*** it all up too. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting og15:</div><div class="quote_post">Well it's flawed in the sense of rating an NBA player. I heard tha AI was supposed to enter the dunk contest in '96. I wonder what his rating would be today if everyone knew he could dunk like that..

Childress sux though, he's not very good. Also Marvin Williams is 76 overall and Andrew Bogut is 74, so I think they overrated Marvin Williams.
Joe Johnson was overatted, they made him able to steal just so he would be an "outside stopper", but in real life he doesn't steal at all. He's a good defender though, but not a great one. They also overatted him in offensive awareness, he hasn't even scored 20 PPG yet, he averaged 19 PPG in 42-43 MPG when Marbury left.
Best thing to do is change it yourself. Marvin Williams is rated higher since Marvin is more athletic. I think im getting this game today.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting The Soft Parade:</div><div class="quote_post">Live I heard always had pretty crappy ratings, no suprise here.</div> maybe but 2k's ratings are probably worse they have td rated 99, no current player should be 99, jordan is a 99. also they have andrew bynum rated a 69! and yao close to a 90.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">andrew bynum rated a 69.</div> what did you expect? Bynum pretty much sucks. he was only picked at 10 for his potential
I like the ratings in NBA 2K6, i just got it today and i've been loving it since. I think they work out the ratings out of categories like you get points out of 10 for being athletic and 10 for being a good defender, you know what i mean? You can also improve you player's ratings by running them throw drills. I got Nate Robinson to 77 from 74.

In 2K6 Josh Smith is a 73 or 74. I think thats pretty good for him, its about where it should be, but he's still amazing cause in the game all you need to do is drive and dunk with him and you win... by alot..

I don't think 99 is reserved only for the upper echelon of players, but I think that KG should only spend a few years at the top while Jordan (if he was playing throughout the years) would be 99 for a while. Chamberlain is always at 99 and I used to put Shaq there too, but it's unrealistic because he'll end up average 30 a game and that just don't happen like that..
