I can assure you, there ain't a single way in all of God's Green Earth that he would end up in Boston. No ifs ands or buts. Ainge isn't risking a youthful core of talented players, that he personally hand-selected to win a championship for Kevin Garnett. And as for Pierce and Jefferson for Garnett, the numbers don't work, and where's Boston's return on Investment? There ain't one, and no one here in Beantown is that silly.
For all the people who think that KG should leave, please tell me some contenders that could afford him. Best case scenario he leaves and goes to a team with a bunch of role players that have potential (ATL, NO, etc). Why waste time doing that when he could just stay with the role players that he knows under the same system?
KG to Chicago? That would be interesting.. I have no idea how the contracts would work, but a Hinrich or Gordon with KG would be exciting (though probably both would have to be traded.. you never know though.) Maybe to Dallas for Dirk? Don't see how Dallas pulls that off, but if they did, the Texas Triangle would be SUCK to the tenth power for any team. And it sucks to play in Texas right now... Oh the Possibilities.
I think Garnett is torn on the situation. I can tell deep down in his heart that he loves Minnesota - they love him there, he has millions of fans, and its the place that gave him the ulitmate chance of HS. Then I see the Garnett that can not stand to be a contender each year like the likes of Tim Duncan. Garnett needs a change, where its a move - or moves around him. The year Tim Duncan gets Finley and Van Exel to his championship squad, Shaq gets GP, Walker, JWill ect Garnett loses probably his favorite teammate since Malik Sealy in Sammy C. Im honestly scared - I want Kevin to win a championship in Minnesota. But the man is a passionate about one thing, and surrounding him with players that don't have the goal of winning a championship rather than individual acheivements, or more playing time at the top of their list is probably destroying him a lil more each season inside. Glenn Taylor - I love you as an owner - but get rid of McHale, and the rest of the front office - and start with something new, and bring in players with talent and proven skill. Break the bank a little.
He'll leave. Kevin McHale is a moron, Lakers should do a 180 they got pulled on from the Shaq/Heat sending three players for KG.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting chingy0007:</div><div class="quote_post">I think that KG could lay down an ultimatum - either they get some more talented guys, or he leaves.</div> And how exactly would he leave? I don't think there's a clause in his contract that says he can just leave the team, and the Wolves probably wouldn't want a buyout since they would want something in return.
I agree with this, In order for KG tp win a championship he needs to leave because it seems as if the GM likes to make his franchise every year by getting rid of capable players (like sam cassel) and keeping trash players (like olowakandi)
The biggest mistake was letting go of Flip. He got the worst end of the bargain because of Sprewell and Szcerbiak's ego.
****Rumor***Detroit Pistons were willing to ship a package including Rasheed Wallace and Darko Milicic to Minnesota for Garnett. Dumars insisted he had not been in contact with the Wolves regarding Garnett, and McHale also dismissed the rumor, which came as executives from others teams were trying to gauge whether the Timberwolves would seriously consider dealing the franchise player who has been with Minnesota throughout his entire 10-year NBA career. A source insisted Detroit's offer of Wallace and Milicic was real, adding that the offer was made through another Pistons official so that Dumars could maintain deniability in case the players came to him for an explanation." This came from the espn insider article.
