Larry Brown Says "Houston" was Knicks Best Player Last Year <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">NEW YORK (AP) -- Allan Houston was the ``best player'' on the New York Knicks last season. At least that's the opinion of incoming coach Larry Brown, who plans to have the chronically sore-kneed shooting guard ready to go when training camp begins next week. Meeting with reporters Thursday for the first time since he was hired, Brown had only complimentary things to say regarding nearly everything Knick-related -- from Jerome James' desire to Nate Robinson's potential to Maurice Taylor's enthusiasm. Brown even said he anticipated working again with Stephon Marbury, although he may have slighted the self-proclaimed best point guard in the NBA during the process. Asked to give his impression of what went wrong for the Knicks last season after they ended December with a 16-13 record, Brown brought up the knee injury that has kept Houston sidelined for the better part of the past two seasons. ``They started out pretty darn good, but when you lose an Allan Houston, you know, your best player, it's pretty difficult to overcome that,'' Brown said. </div> Source
i dont no if you can say he was there best player but im sure if allens knee wasnt messed up he would be a allstar player
When I saw Houston play after the knee injury, I can say at that point he wasn't the best player. Before the injury, it sounds like he helped chemistry a lot and was a big part of the team.
He gave a whole interview about what he thought about the Knicks last season and the new players, but the article just focuses on that one comment. I think Brown was being more complimentary than honest, and the media is turning into an issue.
great way to annoy stephon tell the press that they did no good last year cos houston was injured and he`s their best player welcome to larry`s world !!! i feel sorry for the knicks fans cos their team is a shambles and now they`ve got the mad professor in charge
Marbury was the knicks best player last year. Houston barely played and when he did he missed alot of open jumpshots. I dont know about Houston because his knee has really made him slower and I dont know if he can guard top sg's in the east like VC, Pierce, AI, Mo-Pete or Rose. I hope he can be healthy because he's a real weapon off the bench.
Well, Houston's presence would have been the deciding factor in whether the Knicks made the playoffs or not. Remember how many games they lost during crunch time? Houston wouldn't have let that happen. So, I guess you can make an argument he was their best player.
The main reason the knicks lost all those games was because they were a 1st half team. They played like a playoff team in the 1st half and the second half they let leads go and stopped playing defense. I dont know what it was but they have to become a team that plays all 40 minutes instead of 20 and they can't give up game winning shots. Some shots that killed them were Scott Padgetts, Ben gordon twice, Wade's, and a couple more. They have to play hard every minute of the game. This year LB will make them.
I hope that Houston gets back to his best, but it looks to me like he is finnished unfortunately, I hope I am proved wrong...
