<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Oklahoma City, Oct. 1 - The New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets announced today that Allan Bristow has stepped down as general manager due to health concerns. Director of Player Personnel Jeff Bower has been promoted to general manager.

"The stress and strain of the last month took a serious toll on various health problems that I was already facing before the hurricane," said Bristow. "After consulting with my physician, it became clear that stepping down was the only decision that made sense for me and my family."

Bower, who is entering his 11th season with the Hornets, will return to the role of general manager effective immediately. He previously served as general manager from 2001-2003.

"We expect to do great things this season both on and off the court," said Bower. "I'm proud that I will be a part of both the excitement that is being generated in Oklahoma City and the rebuilding effort that we will help to see through in Louisiana."

Bower's versatility has been a valuable asset to the Hornets basketball staff during his 10 seasons with the club. He joined the team in 1995 as an advance scout and was named director of advance scouting prior to the 1997-98 season. Bower also served as an assistant coach during the 1998-99 season following the resignation of Dave Cowens. He was named general manager in the summer of 2001 after spending the 2000-01 season as the team' s assistant general manager and remained in that role until the summer of 2003 when he once again moved to the bench as an assistant coach. Bower returned to the front office in the summer of 2004 when he was named director of player personnel.

Prior to joining the Hornets, Bower spent three years as an assistant coach at Penn State University from 1983-1986 before moving to Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. After first serving as an assistant coach from 1986 through 1990, he was promoted to associate head coach, a position he held for five years.</div>

Bristow was alright, I really like what he did in the draft picking up Bass in the second round and gettin' Paul with the lottery pick. Hopefully he does well in what ever he does after this and hopefully the Hornets pick up someone good to take his place... Maybe promote Willis Reed if he's still in the organization or hire Julius Erving.
