What do you think VC will bring to the table for the upcoming season? Do you think he will improve from last year, be around the same, or be less effective? & what kind of stats do you see him averaging through out the season?
I think Carter will drop off a little stat-wise because of the return of a healthy Jefferson and the increase in the role of Krstic. Carter will still have a great impact and lead the team in scoring, but I expect him to do so at a clip of around 19 ppg. Then I see RJ following up with 17, and Krstic and Kidd with 14 each.
I see VC playing on the same level as last year. His role may be reduced some but I still seem him averaging at least 20 points a game. Of course he will bring excitement to the games he plays as he always does.
I think that he will used until the other teams begin to place a lot of attention on him. When that happens I see him passing the ball more rather than forcing up shots. I think that he will average more than twenty-five points per game. In the begining of the season, I think that he will be well over thirty ppg. I expect his passing to be very very good. I also do NOT expect him to play all 82 games. I think that (looking at his injury history) he will player somewhere in the low seventies. When and if the playoffs arrive, I see his number going up to around 30 ppg. I know that no one can really be compared to Jordan, but offensivly, I think that Carter is going to have a Jordonesque season. Defensivly I expect him to bring nothing more than he brought last year; which was not much.
Vince Carter's stats may take a drop off...but I think this year is the best opportunity for him to prove that he is more then a scorer....he has other guys who can score next to him Jefferson, Krstic, McInnis etc...decent shooters Padgett, Murray...so he gets to prove that he can be a playmaker, as he has the opportunity to create plays for those type of guys...also I think he can take a guy like Wright under the wing...and him & Jefferson can be mentors. So I think this is a great opportunity to prove that he is a team player. And if he is successful at that then I think the Nets will be very successful as well.
VC? Man, I think he is going to have a great season. He will pick off where he left off last season. Playing along with Kidd makes him feel more comfortable on the court and again I think he will just continue to excel. For the first time in a longtime I think he will finally earn that All-Star starting role that he gets virtually every season.
I feel he will still have a great impact but maybe less points because players like RJ will demand shots too. Overall when the Nets will really need him, im sure he will step up his game more. The guy is great and with him playing along side J-Kidd, i think the Nets will have a great season.
Injuries.....and lots of them All joking aside he will bring what he brings every year, which is a complete offensive game. I don't know if anyone noticed but his passing is probably the most underrated part of his game. His shot will always be threat. He will be a very very good offensive force for New Jersey if he can stay healthy and motivated. His defence will always be the shoddy part of his game but thats not a surprise to anyone. At least he won't give up as much points as he makes. His stats will dip down a bit but very minutely. Even if Jefferson is coming back, Vince is still the main offensive threat and the #1 option for JKidd to pass the ball to. When there is 4 seconds left in the game or shot clock the ball has to get into Vince's hands because he is the best at creating for himself.

Jefferson is a great player but far from the level of Vince. Im sure RJ understands that and won't be upset when he doesn't get the ball when the game is the line.
This is what I think VC will average this season. Playing around 70 games: PPG: 24.6 RPG: 5.2 APG: 4.6 SPG: 1.5 BPG: 0.6 FG: 46.9 TO: 2.10
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Locke:</div><div class="quote_post">I think Carter will drop off a little stat-wise because of the return of a healthy Jefferson and the increase in the role of Krstic. Then I see RJ following up with 17, and Krstic and Kidd with 14 each.</div> Those numbers are pretty bad, let's say NJ is scoring 98 PPG, then their 4 main guys are scoring only 64 PPG. Let's give Marc Jackson 9 PPG, and that's 73 PPG from the starters, then their's 25 PPG left. The starters will play about 167 MPG out of 240 MPG. Carter - 37, Jefferson - 38, Kidd- 36, Kristic - 30, Jackson 26. Their's 240 minutes in a game. So you want the rest of the bench which isn't even filled with scorers to score 25 PPG in 73 minutes. Jason Collins and Cliff will get most of those minutes, so the starters will average 2.28 PPM, and the bench 2.92 PPM? I think Carter and Jefferson will both be near the 20 PPG mark. About 23 PPG for Carter, and 19-20 PPG for Jefferson. Followed by possibly Kidd, but maybe Kristic, and then Marc Jackson. Carter has already shown he can be a playmaker, I don't even know how he averaged 4.8 APG on that Kevin O'neil coached team we had, but he did it. He has great passing skill, and if the ball is put in his hands with that role, he will make things happen. Defensively he also needs to help more, he's not really as bad a defender as people make him out to be, he's far from being a liability. His biggest defensive problem is him putting little effort because he get's tired from offense, and he picks up cheesy fouls. He should give the Nets something like 23-5-4, and shoot nice percentages.
