Recently, Ricky Sanchez (Nuggets 2nd rounder) said he will most likely sign with the Idaho Stampede of the CBA, a team of which Nuggs coach George Karl is part owner.
So, I think it's a bit more than coincidence he joined Karl's team. I mean, to have an NBA reserve being put on an unaffiliated minor league with the recent strides taken to create a farm system, I think we're discovering a conflict in interests for George Karl.
See, in the NBA D-League, coaches can chose when a player goes and comes from the league, but has no say in how the player is used in the team.
As a part owner in the CBA, Karl is not bound by the same rules and could likely influence the coaching decisions of the Stampede when considering Ricky Sanchez. However, I don't think Karl is trying to be manipulative, I just think he sees how this would be more beneficial to him:
-he has more say-so in Sanchez' minor league development (playing time et al.) as an owner than he would as an affiliated NBA coach
-fellow NBA teams who are partnered with the Nuggets' D-League team will not be receiving direct contact with Sanchez as they will with the Nuggets players who will be on the D-League roster throughout the season
-it gives the Nuggets one more player who's ostencibly on reserve

What do you as Nuggets fans think?
