<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Typically, there isn’t much to report from the first day of practice. But in the Bulls’ case, coach Scott Skiles had a challenge ready for Tyson Chandler, who figures to be the team’s starting center this season after Eddy Curry was traded to New York. “Tyson didn’t do much this summer, from what I’ve seen,” Skiles said following Tuesday’s early session at the Berto Center. “(Not) compared to last summer when he was here for almost 75 days.” Skiles believes Chandler may have suffered from “free-agent syndrome.” NBA players often are told by their agents to cut back the summer workload because they don’t want to risk being injured before signing a new deal. “Guys think that means don’t do anything, but really that means don’t play basketball,” Skiles said. “His conditioning and his preparedness to play have a long way to go. I have a comfort level that in pretty short order, he’s going to be in good enough shape.” When told of Skiles’ charge, Chandler pleaded guilty. He spent the summer at home in California, got married and enjoyed a nice honeymoon in the Bahamas and Barbados. “Yeah, that definitely was the case,” Chandler said. “I definitely didn’t want to do too much and risk injury before I signed. I definitely would have liked to condition more. I did a lot of weightlifting. So I did get stronger, but my conditioning is bad.”</div> <div align="center">Source</div> Really nothing to worry about Chandler is a hard worker, and will get into shape, but it is some news that should be dually noted. It also opens up some discussion about whether or not Chandler will continue to have the dedication he has in past summers to get better now that he has his paper? I think he will, and I give him the benefit of the doubt that the reason he is not in great shape like in past summers is due to not wanting to risk injuries. I can respect that considering what happened to Willie Green this summer I think it’s more of a conditioning thing rather than a weight problem or anything of that nature. However, stamina and conditioning can ultimately be the deciding factor on weather a player starts or not (ex. Ben Gordon).
Yeah This is chandlers time to shine. The inside will be his total responsability now. Im happy as long as he has been lifting weights to build his strength. Conditioning will come as the preseason begins. he will be okay by game 1 of the regular season. Time for me to change my rosters in my video games............... Hasta! Go Bulls!
