Astros have been riding Lidge too hard this series. Although he is a great closer, I don't think that he is in his best shape right now. As bplld said, he's had three bad games in a row. Now Pettite has to win the series for Houston. If STL can drag it to 7 games, I believe they can win.
Lets get this straight. The Astros lost that game, the Cardinals didnt win it. The Astros knew if they threw a pitch down the middle that Pujols would knock it out of the park. Lidge messed up one pitch and that's all Pujols needed. The Astros lost the game, Lidge gave it away.
Thats Right he gave the Game away game 5 away. Carpenter is the only pitcher that has stopped the astros in their tracks. Now Oswalt goes up against their worst starter. If we loose game 6, were going into game 7 with less momentum but Clemens pitching and with him in the game there is always a chance. Game 6 is up for grabs and the cardinals have only beaten oswalt once while hes beaten them down and again.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting chineseafro:</div><div class="quote_post">If the Cardinals win the series all of Houston will be crying.</div> He'll yea we will! Personally, if the Astros lose the series I would be sad for Biggio and Bagwell. They've been Astros for soooooo long and you'd hate to see them never get to the World Series. Bagwell and Biggio were my first 2 favorite sports stars. I knew them before I knew about the Rockets.
Even if we do loose, we still have next year. Biggio signed an extension, and so will clemens. We can pickup a good outfielder and whatever else they want in the offseason and are capable of taking the division. Home court all the way would be a serious boost in the playoffs. We can win today, oswalt has been solid the entire postseason.
Here's a nice article on the Stros by the Sports Guy of Page 2 Espn. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...=simmons/051018
Astros in 6......I said it at the beginning of the series and I'm stickin to it...........you guys know Houston teams never like to do it easy.
Wow....World Series here we come. White Sox are gonna be a very hard team with their starters. I'm happy players like Biggio and Bagwell are playing in their first.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting chineseafro:</div><div class="quote_post">If the Cardinals win the series all of Houston will be crying.</div> Now all of St. Louis will be crying. Yes the Astros did it. Oswalt is the Man. Cheers also to Qualls and Wheeler who did a nice job finishing off the Cardinals. I dreamt a while ago that the Astros will win it 5-1 and so it goes. Biggio and Bagwell would be the happiest of all the Astros players.
We can beat the white sox in 6 games. The AL looked pretty easy to beat, i amnt too impressed with their wins.
^ ^ Yes it is. Here's an article I wrote right before the All-Star Break <font color="red">The Return of the Houston Astros</font> <font size="9">Written by, Adrenaline 7.6.05</font> Remember the year 2004? I sure do. About this time last year the Houston Astros are almost in the position they were in. Dead last, gasping for some air to be able to get out of second to last in NLC. Just about a week before the All-Star break the Astros made one of their best moves they could have ever done in their franchise history, yet how did it turn out in the end and how it has effected this years Houston Astros. The week before the All-Star break their were rumors for one day that the slumping Astros were going to give up their closer, Octavio Dotel in a three team trade that included the Houston Astros, Oakland Athletics, and the Kansas City Royals. The Astros trade Dotel to the Oakland Athletics and the Athletics traded three young prospects to Royals. The Royals traded a uprising star, Carlos Beltran to the Astros who were in need of a true Outfielder. Biggio wasn't getting it done. I remember when the trade went down I never knew a "Carlos Beltran". I heard people talking about him allot that day when the trade went down, I had no clue who had the upper-hand in this trade. A curring, Carlos Beltran had to be the best trade we've made. The slumping Astros turned what was shaping out to be their worst season in years to the best in the past 5 years. A 92-70 season record made them win the NL Wild Card Race. Houston, was put into the playoffs again after a miracle year this time there was magic working still. Houston played the Atlanta Braves who have early exited the 'Stros every year they had played them in the Playoffs. Walk-Off game winning home-runs by Jeff Kent broke the curse between the two teams. Yet time was running out. The Astros finally passed the first round and the way it was looking there was no holding back. Yet, the Cardinals were the last stop for the Astros. The Cardinals and Astros series had to be the most intense series in the 2004 playoffs. Beltran, Biggo, Berkman, Kent, Roy Oswalt and many others carried this team one game away from the World Series, which would of been their first one ever in franchise history. On that night of the game 7 NLCS the Cardinals won it all. Beating the Astros off a walk-off home-run from Jim Edmond. Now, that I think about it I want to cry. It was the worst thing that happened to them since their horrible slump before the All-Star Break. I wont go into much dept into how the Astros had this series except the fact that, Dan Milceli and Dave Weathers suck at pitching. The Astros should of beat them in five. Yet loose in 7. The Happy Ending the Astros were dreaming of, never did come true. All the Houston relatives were marching on their streets waiting for the Astros to clinch it. Never came true. The really stand out thing of the playoffs that could please any Astro fan was the rivals (Cardinals) got swept in four games to the Boston Red Sox's who broke their curse of Babe Ruth. The Astros in the off-season let go of major players. Jeff Kent and Carlos Beltran. Beltran signed a huge large hefty contract with the Met's who got their Ace, Pedro Martinez from the 2004 world champs, Boston Red Soxs. Jeff Kent was released because, the Astros wanted to keep Craig Biggio who has played with the Astros all his life. Biggio has his best career year in home-runs in 2004 with 21. Kent signed with the Dodgers who lost the home-run leader, Adrian Beltre. Houston's off season wasn't brining in the "Rich And The InFamous". Instead it was produce the "Rich and The Famous". With one exception, the Astros re-signed Roy Oswalt, Lance Berkman, and Roger Clemens. With the lost of Carlos Beltran and Jeff Kent the Astros called up Willy Traveras to play Center and Chris Burke to play second base. Traveras has started all year at center. The Astros put Biggio back at second while Burke was either benched, second string second baseman or playing left field. The Astros have won 14 of the past 18 games. Houston has crawled from dead last to tied for second in the NLC. The Cardinals are dominating with every club needing 10 wins or plus to catch up and tie. The Cubs are tied with the Astros at a 40-42 record. Cubs are in a slump winning 3 of their last 7. In the end, the Astros are their same spot as last year. Except their maybe a new outfielder coming to Houston. Adam Dunn from the Red's has been rumored to be traded for the Astros for, Frenado Nieve, E. Astascio and un-named player.

We still know that we have one of the brightest young stars in the league, and we have the soon to be NL Cy Young winner. The Cardinals will make another run next year, but Busch Stadium won't. That's the one true reason that Cardinals fans were in tears last night. Busch has been a mainstay in downtown St. Louis, for years people flocked to Busch to watch their beloved Cardinals play, but never again. Busch Stadium will just be a memory, and the reason that St. Louis was so distraught last night wasn't solely because the Cardinals lost, it was because we lost Busch too soon, it didn't get the farewell it deserved of one final World Series. (People were going crazy in Busch, some dude stole a bathroom door, other people were trying to rip the seats out. Primarily those fans that had been sitting in the same seat for years.)
Did they allow them to steal the seats? Also, sorry to tell you but, they didn't deserve another WS shot. They lost in 4 games last year. They had their shot.

Not to mention that our pitching was extremely suspect, we lost Carpenter before the playoffs, and our rotation was screwed the entire way through. That and the Red Sox were lights out. And why would they care if anyone took anything? The stadium is going to get blown to bits.

They want the one that Jason Lane caught to end Game 6. They're asking to have it back. As an Astros fan I say no. The ball may mean alot to the Cardinals but it also means alot to the Astros and the city of Houston. It sent the Astros to the World Series after a 44 year wait.
