NOLA.com - Hornets coach Byron Scott said it was his decision to ban backup forward George Lynch from training camp.

During Monday's Media Day, Lynch made a request to be traded because he wants to play for a contending team. Lynch is in the final year of his contract with the Hornets.

"I don't want those type of distractions in our locker room,'' Scott said after Wednesday's practice at Southern Nazarene University. "George has made it clear that he wants to be traded, and we made it clear that we want to trade him. So that's not like something new. We want to try and get rid of him, try to make him happy. As far as I'm concerned, if a player doesn't want to be here, I don't want him here.''

Lynch is sidelined for up to two to three weeks with a heel injury. Team officials said he will do all of his rehabilitation work in Dallas, his hometown

Interesting, whats your take on this? I always thought Lynch was a hard working SF, and if Dallas wasn't so overrun with 3's then I would of liked them to go after him

I find it hilarious he's demanding a trade. George Lynch is lucky to still be in the league at this point in his career. He hasn't been able to stay healthy, and he's not very effective anymore at SF.

I agree. This has to rank up there with Walter McCarty requesting a trade. Although Lynch is still a good defender and rebounder at small forward, he has gotten much slower and he is nothing significant on offense. The Hornets will be lucky to get a second-round pick for him.

I like Scott's discipline here. I wonder why he didn't suspend Baron Davis last summer though. If you're going to be strict, you should at least be consistent.

I get your point, but theres a different between Baron Davis and George Lynch

Davis asked for it midseason, not during training camp when everything is high and everyone is looking to impress.

Exactly, he most likely wont be even playing if he was traded to a contender anyway so he's actully lucky to be in NO, where he can have some playing time and perhaps help the young guys.
