ST. CATHARINES -- Matt Bonner is sticking to his two favourite modes of transportation -- walking and the Red Rocket.

The red-headed, second-year Raptors forward, given the nickname the Red Rocket last season, said he has no plans to buy a car despite becoming a millionaire when he signed a two-year deal with the club this summer.

"I'd be selling out if I got a car," said Bonner, who will continue walking 15 minutes to the Air Canada Centre from his apartment. "Even if I got a car, I wouldn't really use it. I'm going to stick to walking and if I have to get around somewhere outside the walking radius, (he'll use the TTC).

"(A car) seems like a waste, not just money-wise but to the environment. I'd feel too lazy if I couldn't walk

I can believe that. I saw him walking down the street after the Steve Nash Charity game this summer and into Jack Astors by the ACC.

Bonner is the best millionaire in Toronto. I hope we keep him after his 2 year contract.

well a friend of a friend apparently is the dude behind the mattbonner.org website and bonner personally invited the creator of the site and a buddy to the game (free tickets) and had dinner with them afterwards (paid by bonner as well). point of the story is that bonner is a nice dude.

That's an indication that the guy has no life outside of basketball. Which is very good from a fan's perspective.

I wish I could run into him on the TTC or walking around downtown. Bonner is one of the best personalities on the Raptors and we need more players with his character.

I find his going to Leafs games interesting as well. He bought just a hat to attend the games, which probably cost no more than $10. Why not buy a jersey or something? It's not like he works at McDonald's or something.
