HOUSTON (Ticker) - Veteran forward Vin Baker's tumultuous career has taken another downward turn.

The Houston Rockets on Friday waived Baker, who has played for three teams over the past two seasons after spending the first nine of his career with Milwaukee and Seattle.

A four-time All-Star from 1995-98 and a member of the United States' Olympic gold medal-winning squad in 2000, Baker has averaged 15.1 points and 7.5 rebounds in 783 games.

Well can't say that this hurts for me to see this........this is kinda off topic, but imagine for one moment if the rockets had a young vin baker.......God, we'd have one amazing squad.

Doubt we would get a young Baker for Mo Taylor, so it's not really possible. But yeah, it would be phenomenal.

Waiving Baker is a predicted move. I support the move, but I think we would have been better off buying out Baker's contract. Now we have a roster spot for one young player who has much more potential than Baker.

I was expecting this to happen because of the number of players on the roster. I guess this means Moochie's roster spot is secured unless CD is plotting something.

With Sura injured, it's just Rafer and Head, so I guess we need some insurance with another PG. Moochie can hold isown with 10 mins a game I guess but I'd rather not thank you. Maybe when Moochie was with us when Francis was injured, keke he was cool then.

I could also seem some trade brewing with Moochie in mind. Possibly for a legit backup SF.. possibly even a young center since mutombo is getting old.. i don't know.. Just making stuff of the top of my head.

This was more or less inevitable...no real surprise...but we are opening up more roster slots with baker being cut and Ward becoming an assistant coach...I think the only other roster move we'll make is by either Baxter or Glover making the squad...A lot of people expect Glover to be on an NBA roster sometime soon, though not necessarily Houston's...

It's kinda sad, I remember watching games when we were blowing them out and wanting to see Baker score, along with Moochie of course and also Torraye, speaking of which, is he still with us?

According to a report from Houston Chronicles, the Rockets have bought out Baker's last year contract.

It seems that Glover would have a chance of making the roster after Ward's change in career and Baker's termination.

Braggs was a free agent this summer and I haven't heard any news of him. Most likely, he's signed to play in another league. He was a good rebounder with us two seasons ago but didn't get a chance last season.

I think that Glover and Baxter will get the two spots vacated by Ward and Baker. Baxter is almost a guarantee as he has a guaranteed contract and looks in the best position to win a role as the third PF on the roster. That being said, I'd like to see Keith Langford and Chuck Hayes get fair chances to compete for that roster spot. I know JVG likes veterans more but I'd rather have a young guy sitting on the bench than Glover.
