<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">JACKSONVILLE -- Nothing appears to be set in stone after the first day of training camp about whether the Orlando Magic will start Steve Francis at point guard or shooting guard.

But what is clear is that DeShawn Stevenson, whose career seemed to be sinking like a stone less than a year ago, will figure as prominently as anyone that coach Brian Hill might pair with Francis in the backcourt.

Stevenson was one of the Magic's few bright spots over their final 18 games last season, averaging 16.5 points after interim coach Chris Jent replaced Johnny Davis. That finish, coupled with him getting to know Hill a month before the start of voluntary workouts, could explain why the five-year NBA veteran joined Francis, Grant Hill, Dwight Howard and Tony Battie on the first-string unit toward the end of Tuesday morning's 2 1/2-hour session.

"I'm in a situation where I feel like whatever's going to happen is going to happen," Stevenson said. "We're in a good situation, and I think I am too."</div>

i dont think that this is going to make dooling happy and what about nelson he then becomes a third string pg.thats just stupid if he gets pushed back he should try to convince the heads to trade him.although i doubt he has the power to influence a desision like that.he has starter potential and would be dynamite in a team like atlanta.

Dooling would be the 2nd string SG and Jameer would be 2nd string PG. Dooling and Francis will rotate while Stevenson is only SG and Jameer is only PG. So all of them will still recieve plenty of time.

I don't think there's enough playing time to make everyone happy, and if I remember correctly Hedo also spend some time at SG last year.

Anyway, according to the Sentinel it's decided, Francis at PG and Stevenson at SG: Francis starts at point guard

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Francis starts at point guard
Based on the Magic's preseason scrimmage, DeShawn Stevenson gets other guard spot.

JACKSONVILLE -- The mystery is apparently over. So is any controversy.

Orlando Magic fans can sleep now.

Steve Francis will start at point guard, and DeShawn Stevenson will be the shooting guard -- until further notice.

Francis handled the ball most of the time while playing with Stevenson on the Blue team in the Magic's intrasquad game Saturday night at the University of North Florida Arena.

After the glorified scrimmage, Francis answered the question with a question.

"So what do you think I'm gonna play now -- '1' [point guard] or '2'?" he said.

Francis intimated there was never a dilemma about whether he would move from point guard to shooting guard.

    Say what?

"Y'all made it up," Francis said, referring to the media. "Myself and [Coach] Brian Hill didn't make it up. I'm happy to be where I'm at."

What wasn't made up was the fact that Francis was moved from point guard to shooting guard after the all-star break last season -- and it was a big deal.

The club had talked about the experiment all summer, primarily to cut down on Francis' turnovers and promote ball movement.

Even point guard Jameer Nelson -- now obviously coming off the bench behind Francis -- said Francis had been practicing this offseason as if he would play shooting guard.

Hill still refused to label Francis a point guard and Stevenson a shooting guard.

"He was out there tonight," Hill said of Francis. "It's a two-guard offense."

What it likely means is that Francis might be given the title of point guard, but he won't always resemble one in games, with the Magic accenting his strengths.</div>
