The Arizona Republic - Amar? Stoudemire is out for an indeterminate amount of time and could be facing surgery because of the left knee that has been troubling him this summer.

Suns GM Bryan Colangelo said that Phoenix is "going through the evaluation process and is going to make sure it has all the information before a determination is made to pursue treatment, possible surgery (and) what the safest and best return is for him to come back to basketball."

[imgl]http://www.azcentral.com/sports/suns/pics/1010amarebig-autosized141.jpg[/imgl] Amaré Stoudemire and the Suns are expected to announce today how his troubled left knee will be handled. He returned to Phoenix on Sunday after receiving a third opinion on the problem.

The course of action most mentioned is having a knee scope, a type of surgery in which a small camera is inserted through a small incision to examine inside the knee joint. The hope is that no additional problems, beyond what a magnetic resonance imaging test already has shown, would be found during an arthroscopy and Stoudemire could return to action in November.

The procedure could be performed this week.

Stoudemire's left knee has troubled him since the summer and he sat out of two camp sessions in Tucson last week because of it. He planned to rest his knee more, but returned for two practices before visiting a Tucson specialist.

This sucks for the Suns. If he's forced to miss quite some games, it'll open up the pacific division title chances for the kings, lakers and warriors..Will Marion be forced to play PF again??

Honestly If Amare is only out 5-7 games then I don't see how this effects their chances of winning the pacific

without amare they will likely go with

    nash
    bell
    jackson
    marion
    thomas

still a pretty damn good line-up. They will also at least not be that thin on the bench either.

I thought Amare would miss more than a month. Plus its unsure how quick he can get into game form after the layoff. You also dont want to risk your franchise player reinjuring and making it worse by coming too early.

    This SUCKS!!!

I still feel that we will be a playoff team and probably a 3-6 seed. As long as Amare is healthy in the playoffs we can be a force. It's horrible because Amare was ready to break out and have an MVP year. He averaged 26 ppg last season and improved in most phases of the game. He does not have much of a chance of getting MVP missing four months.
