i've noticed at his rookie season, he had a very good mid range shot, last year, he wasn't that good at all. maybe its because jeff doesn't want for yao to shoot the midrange shot and rudy did, but it seems like yao should be shooting more midrange shot. now that we have swift, instead of yao going to the basket of the pick and roll he can stay in the wing so tracy has 3 choices, shoot the 3, give it too yao or ,give it to swift, depending on the D. whats your idea?

The reason why he didn't shoot as much midrangers was because of the loss of Cato. Back in the day, Cato could box out and grab the rebound in case Yao missed whereas last year, Yao had to stay in the post more since Howard wasn't as much of a garbage player. That was just a luxury that we lost when we traded Cato. He's a much better inside rebounder compared to our powerforwards now and its just something we can't duplicate. Still, there's a bit of hope. The addition of Swift gives Yao a bit more ability to linger out since Swift is a slightly better rebounder than Howard- but we'll have to see if Swift consistently does a good job of it.
I agree with the idea that JVG needs to incorporate more pick-and-pop opportunities for Yao because he's very capable of hitting the 15-18 footer...plus its a different look offensively and enables more cutting/slashing room for Alston or DA...
He doesn't take as many, but I've seen him take plenty last year. So, not quite sure what your talkin about?
I love Yao's 15 footer. He drills that a couple times early in a game and his confidence usually leads to him going inside and scoring more.
With Yao's height and weight, I would want his presence felt deep down in the low post, not rolling out and jacking up a 15 footer.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting LiQz:</div><div class="quote_post">With Yao's height and weight, I would want his presence felt deep down in the low post, not rolling out and jacking up a 15 footer.</div> Why not? Yao moving out to the perimeter at times will allow TMac more space to drive into the lane and also give Swift some time to play the post. Having two points from a jumper and two from a dunk is no difference.
I just plain don't like Yao. I've never really liked him, he seems too stringy for a center to me. I prefer centers to be bigger like Shaq and Ben Wallace who can muscle their way in there.
