<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Raptors need Chris Bosh to do what he's done in the past two seasons and more.

They will ask him to score more points and grab more rebounds and block more shots while he continues on a path that will surely land him in more than few NBA all-star games.

    And that won't be enough.

They will need Bosh to become more aggressive off the court, to take his teammates to task when they mess up, to stand before the microphones and tape recorders and explain away losses, whether they are his fault or not, and they will need him to become a professional grown up.

As unfair as it might be to ask a 21-year-old who should still be learning the nuances of his craft, it is absolutely necessary for the future growth of a franchise pinning its hopes on youngsters like Bosh.

"In order for us to start moving in the direction we want and becoming a good team, your players have to police themselves," coach Sam Mitchell said. "I can't be the top cop every night ... the players have to police themselves."

That's why it has been heartening to see how Bosh has reacted to his new job as off-court enforcer at training camp.

Friday, away from the prying eyes of the media, Mitchell said Bosh got in the face of teammates for not playing smart in an intrasquad game; his teammates were taking ? and missing ? too many jump shots for Bosh's liking and he let them know.</div>

    Thanks for the post Purple,

I don't know if Bosh should be that guy yet, I think since he is still only 21 we should expect him to be a leader by example, and let him develop into a leader off the court with time.

It surely doesn't help having Jalen as a vocal leader, because the guy doesn't lead by example, doesn't try on D, and has to communicate better with people. He seems to quick to criticize through the media, rather than actually talk it through with the people he has a problem with.

I'm hoping that Mike James might step it up, and Bosh will develop his leadership as he gets more experienced. I'm not saying Bosh won't be leader, but just not yet.

I think Mo is probably the best leader on the squad. He plays D, he can do a thing or two on offense and is a veteran. Consistency is the only thing Mo lacks, if he had that I'd choose him to be the Captain over Jalen. Jalen is great he's a good leader but like you said he doesnt lead by example. I think Bosh is still to young and inexperienced to start this now, but I think he'll be doing it in the near future.

Ya you know what? for all the time in the forum that is spent discussing other things, I'd still say that the number one determinant of whether we do well this season or not is how fast bosh progresses.

I don't think it's too early for Bosh to start emerging as the team leader, I find it a great sign that he has that will and determination.

Take a look at others in his draft class, Carmlo, Dwyane and Lebron they're all leaders on their teams and are just as young or younger than Bosh.

Bosh and Mo together should be the team captains IMO.

Where's Jalen Rose in all this leadership talk? I actually love his leadership abilities.

On another note, who the hell came up with Big Bosh Man? Ugh. [IMG]
