china still has many very poor citizens who can't even afford internet, also badminton, soccer and ping pong are as basketball in china (I'm half Korean, I know about chinese culture, got to Korea every year for holidays and half my friends in korea are chinese) because of that I doubt anything near a billion chinese knew Yao

let's say 1/2 of china knew yao... that would be around... 500 million, half of those wouldn't care about basketball, the half that does care for basketball has half the guys the don't care about the NBA, that half that does care for NBA has half that does n't know of allstar, the half that does know about allstar has half that don't know they can vote, ok well I could keep going on and on, my point is that a lot less than 50% of the Yao voters are chinese

anyways back to topic, I really like yao for his loyalty to the rockets. He's proved that he doesn't care about how much he gets paid by all those transfer rumors which he rejected

also Yao was the player that attracted all those players, Tmac wanted a C, Skip wanted scorers, stromile wanted a good team

You are right, compuer has not popularized in China, only 30million people own computers, but a majority of them dont care who will start in the all star game.perhaps they kown Yao,but what they care is that how many yao scored, how many rebs and blks yao got.
It is the fact that Chinese people play the most important role in the vote, but it's worthy of doing that ,isn't he the best C in the league now?

I too have heard that not many people in China own computers at all...so I wish Yao haters would stop using that as a crutch...the fact is that he is one of the more marketable players in the league...he helps the league appeal to overseas, and in turn, also helps expose the Rockets brand and market it...
