    <u>
    76ers Keys to the Game</u>

Create Turnovers-The 76ers were number one in he league when it came to making their opponents turn the ball over. In orfer for them to play their style of basketball creating turnovers is always a must. It is as simple as that, the 76ers create turnovers, and then they push the ball up the floor. Creating turnovers is literally key to every game for this team. AI, and Andre usually play the passing lanes well so look for them to be agressive when it comes to taking risks for steals. Andre will have his hands full guarding superstar Tracy McGrady so it is improtant for the 76ers to help him out some. I expect Steven Hunter to be agressive when people threaten the 76ers inside.

Back in action- The 76ers are playing their first game since they got eliminated in the first round of the 2005 playoffs. I expect the starters to come out alert, crisp and happy to be back to playing basketball. They will have the home court advantage and they need to thrive off the usual rowdy Philly crowd. The starters should play around the 20-25 minute mark so if you want to make an indication about the season you may be able to make a small one in the begining of the game, but if the 76ers do good or bad don't expect it to be the same case in the regular season.

Young Guys- Allen Iverson and Chris Webber aren't going to determine the outcome of this game, the guys like James Thomas and Deng Gai will. You might see a close game in the end and the young guys who are fighting for a spot on the roster are going to have to step up to the occasion

My prediction: Should be a close game, both teams young guys are going to need to step up and fight for their cause. I think the Sixers can win this one, but its going to be close. 99-92 Philly.

I'm going to cut this one short, its about thiry minutes from tip off and I didn't make the usual previews I did with last years games. I just wanted to make a thread where Sixers fans could talk about this pre season opener a little bit. Stay tuned for longer in depth previews when the regular season comes along. With that being said go SIXERS!

James Thomas was the NBDL Rookie of the year and led the NBDL in rebounds. He's supposedly a GREAT rebounder.

Nice preview, hope we'll be getting more for the rest of the season! Anyways, I'm a bit late going into this, but so far we're losing to Houston, which is pretty much expected. So far all the guaranteed people on our roster have been playing nicely, although Salmons and Hunter got into foul trouble. I'm actually surprised, Nailon looks like he's a good pickup. Good shooting percentage and effective player. Of course, this is only preseason, so I'll wait before I say anything too great about him. I mean, Moochie Norris is playing decent so thats pretty much a sign to me. Meanwhile, Gai has pretty much shown he doesn't belong in the NBA. A bit too raw and I don't see him doing much in the league. Too short to block shots now.

Gai may not have showed up on the statline but as far as impact goes Avery said he was all over the place early on in the game and he was listening to it. Did you have a chance to see the game or something?

Anyway, the 76ers lost. If you want an excuse for the lost, they were missing two players who are expected to start during the regular season. Maybe thats why they were "expected" to loose. I think our starters had the game but the young guys lost it. The 76ers satrted off fast and they had some pretty nice performaces, Ollie created some TO's and Lee Nailion (not surprsingly) scored some. I noticed Houston played their best players while ours were resting so also another lame excuse from me. A back to back situation here, the 76ers play San Antonio tommorow. Hopefully we can get those two starters back in the lineup.

Ouch. A hint of sarcasm I smell?

Nada, I didn't watch the game. Still, you have to admit, do you honestly think that even with everyone playing their regular minutes, that Philadelphia can pull off a win? I'm sorry if I can't keep the optimism going, but Houston just has a better bench and team on paper. Even with Dalembert, only Salmons, Nailon, and Hunter round out the bench. Two of those guys aren't even proven yet. Chill out on Nailon, I was just surprised he was that effective as a player. And the Norris comment? I was trying to emphasize the stupidity of preseason play. Can't wait to see Webber and Dalembert.

Seriously who cares about the outcome of this game. Preseason is all about individual performances (for now because they dont have webber) see how they developed over the summer. Iguodala and Korver did a nice job but was dissapointed for Hunter.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The 76ers were led, as always, by superstar guard Allen Iverson, who scored 23 points in 23 minutes. The reigning NBA scoring champion made 8-of-14 shots from the field and 7-of-7 from the line.

Second-year swingman Andre Iguodala added 16 points and five rebounds and Kyle Korver added 10 points for Philadelphia, which shot nearly 49 percent (35-of-72) from the floor but made just 4-of-15 from the arc and committed 23 turnovers.

Star forward Chris Webber and starting center Samuel Dalembert each sat out for the 76ers with right quad strains.

Houston played without veteran guard Bob Sura, who still is recovering from offseason knee surgery, and newly acquired power forward Stromile Swift, who sat out due to coach's decision.</div>

    <div align="center">Recap | Box Score | Quotes | Highlights</div>

I heard the play-by-play commentary, and to confirm what B-22 said, Deng Gai was indeed every where. Block shots and deflections and stepping in when the opposing guards were driving to the paint and so on. He sounds very productive and I want see with my own two eyes how productive he can potentially be. Unfortunately, Shalvik Randolph a player that I personally was actually looking forward too seeing was unable to play due to a left foot stress fracture, the same injury that kept Jackson out for a considerable amount of time two seasons ago. Randolph is expected to miss 2-4 weeks, so again that's unfortunate.

Salmons on the other hand was a one man show in a particular stretch in the 2nd quarter, but failed to continue that in the 2nd half and Nailon was pretty good too. Iverson was Iverson, and Iguodala did alright. And how about Kyle Korver? 10-6-6 is pretty darn good. The six assists is the best part because that might be an indication that he has worked on his ball handling/passing/court vision. He was already a decent rebounder so the six boards is not surprise. All in all, it was a decent effort from our guys. And even though it's a preseason game I still wanted a win because while it doesn't count it's always good to have that winning taste in your mouth and get that assured confidence and not just think that you will make sure to win when the game actually counts. Lastly, hopefully C-Webb and Sammy will be back within the next two games because we need them. Not to win games but for that team unity. The both are expected to miss the next game and while these are minor injuries Cheeks said he doesn't know when C-Webb will return. Hopefully, it's soon because chemistry in training camp is different from an actual game and the preseason is where him and A.I is suppose to polish off that chemistry, if not expect a very rocky start to the beginning of their season together.

It's preseason! Stars aren't supposed to play big minutes or be "anything"

yeah, preseason is when the team comes together and gells. its when coaches and the fans get an understanding of what they will see from the youngsters and the newly aquired players.
