Skip, Baxter, Howard, and Head were my players of the game tonight.

Alston had 7 assist and at times seemed to actually pass too much.

Baxter had 9 rebounds in 23 minutes.

Howard played great and you couldnt tell he was out at all with an illness.

And Head had an overall great game. 13pts 2rbs 3ast 2stls. He played great. I hope he can keep this up and get more PT.

The Houston Rockets got their first taste of what may be a memorable season with a win over the Sixers 105-91. (Preseason win, so it doesn't count)

Many players filled the stat sheets pretty nicely-

    Luther Head - 13 pts, 2 steals, 3 assists
    Lonny Baxter - 8 pts, 9 boards
T-Mac - 15 pts, missed all three free throws...
Yao - 19 pts (team high) 4 boards [IMG] 7-7 free throws [IMG]
Rafer Alston - 7 assists (nice) with only 6 shots taken, only 1 turnover
    Juwan Howard - 10 pts, 7 boards
    David Wesley - 5 assists
    Moochie Norris - 9 pts

Well, Luther Head's contribution was a nice start to this season, and Rafer Alston's unselfish 7 assist, 6 shot, 1 turnover game was nice. Lonny Baxter looks promising, too. Stromile Swift didn't play for some reason...

    In case you care -

    Iverson - 23 pts, 8-14 shooting,
    Iguodala - 16 pts
    Korver - 3-5 threes, 10 pts, 6 boards, 6 assists
    Deng Gai - 4 blocks

Good game by the rockets. The defense was horrible most of the game and the offense was great, but things slowed down towards the end. Alston and Anderson are promising a lot more fast break and speed, and Head played great. Baxter was great on the glass. Hayes and Langford came out weak.

    Houston/philly discussion

Since it was the first game, I think we should discuss what we saw.

First off, how bout Luther Head? He has impressed me and im looking forward to seeing him.

Moochie has improved and is look good and Rafer Alston looks like he can take Point gaurd duties.

Yao and Mcgrady are great as usual and the No stro show tonight was dissappointing because I really wanted to see him play, but juwan howard did more than enough.

The free throw practice has paid off

first of all since i didnt watch the first half of the game, i couldnt comment on tmac's performance.. but i dont think he did something special though..

Yao ming was great, he shot the ball more now and he was perfect from FT line

DA impressed me with his shooting, i even think he's a better shooter than wesley now, he should definitely starts IMO

alston showed a good handling skill although he was quite shy to shoot, i think its normal for a new guy in the team.

the best performance i think was from luther head. i think he will become a key player for houston this season

I think everyone preformed well except Wesley: He seemed off to me. Baxter played well, but he needs to be more careful...he commited like 5 personals. Luther Head played the best overall 13 points, couple rebounds, 3 assist, and 2 steals in 20 or so minutes dont know if you can ask for any more. Was kinda confused why Stro didnt play, but I guess hes going to make up for it tomorrow. Skip had a 7 to 1 assist to turn over ratio just add ten more minutes to his playing time and you looking a 10+ apg.

T-mac missed all 3 of his freethrows though, that's something to be concerned about. I hope he starts practicing freethrows like Yao did.

I'd like to see chuck hayes get a spot in the roster. He got some rebounds at 6'6.

was skip too shy to shoot or the coach didn't want him to take many shots?
