<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">There were long stretches late last season when fans had to check the 76ers' bench to see whether Michael Bradley was still on the team.

The 6-foot-10 Bradley, who was a first-round pick in the 2001 NBA draft after an excellent junior season at Villanova, played in only two games for the Sixers after coming to Philadelphia on Feb. 23 as part of the Chris Webber deal with Sacramento. Bradley was left off the playoff roster.

But talk about a transition. Bradley was one of the surprises during the Sixers' training camp, which ended Saturday at Cameron Indoor Stadium, and certainly did enough to make new head coach Maurice Cheeks and his staff take notice.

Because of injuries to centers Samuel Dalembert and Steven Hunter, Bradley spent a lot of time at Duke running with the first team. On the floor, he showed a deft touch around the basket, including baby hook shots with either hand and an effective midrange jumper.

While he played center most of the time, Bradley also spelled Webber at power forward and played there Friday when Cheeks gave the veteran all-star the day off.

There's no guarantee that Bradley will get many minutes once Dalembert and Hunter are healthy, but he's off to a good start.

"It's been very positive," Bradley said last week as drills were winding down. "I'm developing a good rapport with the coaches. I feel confident in the system. I feel like I'm playing pretty well. My body feels great, and I'm just ready to keep it up."

Cheeks spoke throughout the week - with his team and the media - of the importance of taking advantage of opportunities. He liked what he saw in Bradley.

"With Sammy and Steven out, it's given us a chance to get a good look at Michael Bradley," Cheeks said, "and he's been impressive in terms of rebounding the ball and passing the ball better than a lot of guys. He's pretty much taken advantage of his opportunities."</div>

He sounds ok but honestly I'd rather have Matt Barnes on this team rather than Bradely.

Michael Bradley was a solid player on the Raptors a few seasons ago, but his rep dropped off after he was traded. He won't give you 20 points, but he is a scrappy player who picks his spots well and doesn't force shots. He can be a poor man's Jeff Foster if given the playing time, and can be an elite offensive rebounder in the NBA.

I think Bradley is a good player and he's capable of being a serviceable backup at this point in his career. Bradley had a decent touch around the basket like the article said and he was ok in everything else from as much as I saw.
