Luther head has been playing amazing in the pre-season i would start him anyday over skip your thoughts?
Luther Head is showing everyone why the Rockets drafted him in the 1st Round. I knew he would be a solid NBA pro, and he'll be a solid role player for the Rockets all season. Despite his play, Rafer Alston is doing a fantastic job fitting in with the starters. He's doing all the things he did when he came off the bench in Miami. Bringing energy, creating steals, and dishing the ball beautifully. He's already averaging 7 assists per game and making Rocket fans forget about Mike James.
Luther is a great player, I saw him all season in Illinois cuz I live in Champaign. I couldn't believe his improvement when he came in last year and it seems he is making a pretty nice transition to the NBA. I will definately try to check him out when the Bulls play them in Chicago, or possibly even the Pacers.
Head played well in his first 2 preseason games. He did a nice job defensively but needs to work more on playmaking skills as JVG points out. He looks promising and might earn playing time as the season goes on.

Instead of Luther replacing Alston in PG, have him replace wesley in SG. I think that'd be the best starting lineup now.
But then again we want to see how DA handles the 2. So I'm thinking about Head splitting time between the 1 and 2. He's been doing great so far though and hopefully we'll be seeing more of him in the season.
I wasn't too familiar with him when we drafted him, but I must say he's impressed me. What I've noticed is the confidence. He has the same confident swaggeer Cuttino and Sam had as rookies. All three came in firing away. With that said, Head needs to keep coming off the bench. Skip is the clear starter. But Head is the better player, and will be down the line.
Head is really looking promising but there is no way at all he should be starting before Skip. Alston looks very assured on the ball, he gets up the court very fast and his initial pass has been fantastic. Skip has a better jumper at this stage than Head. Van Gundy gave Head plenty of time at the point last night and he showed plenty of skills, but also assured me as to why he is nowhere close to handling that kind of responsibility.
We don't need a scorer starting at the one. Alston has been passing the ball well and is a threat from three, so having him there would make much more sense. Head is definitely proving his worth though, and he's making it hard for Van Gundy to bench him. I can see him coming off the bench as Alston's primary backup and also shift over to shooting guard when matchups allow us to.
i agree with most of you. skip should start at the point. he is a better playmaker. luther head is our new mike james. a great spark off the bench.

We have so many sparks of the bench now. Blocking: Deke, Swift Shooting: Barry, Head, and Anderson Man this year the Rockets have really fixed themselves up. We took our only problem last year (lacking of depth [during the mavs series it stuck out like a sore thumb]), and fixed it. In every position we have at least 1 person that could start over the other. By that I mean we would still do well IF Anderson started over T-MAC (never gunna happen, but hey if t mac gets injured or something). If Stro started over Howard, etc...
The thing about Luther Head is he that he is a very versatile player. He played both guards spot and even small forward at Illinois last season. Opposing defensive players really had a tough time keeping up with Head's great agility. And on top of that, he's good at creating his own shot. He's definitely a solid guy to bring off the bench in crunch time...

Rafer Alston should still start. I was at the Rockets game yesterday and Head was doing a great job and ended up with 12 pts. I love Head:[ but he still needs time to grow.
Head should come off the bench as our point gaurd. Anderson and Barry shouldn't run point after alston sits down.
Can't Head just start as a shooting guard instead? His performance thus far certainly seems more impressive than Wesley's.
