<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">MEMPHIS, Tenn., Oct. 12 (Ticker) -- Mike Miller and Eddie Jones keyed a big third-quarter run and the Memphis Grizzlies were able to hang on. Miller and Jones scored five points apiece in a big surge after halftime as the Grizzlies posted an 86-82 victory over the Chicago Bulls in a preseason matchup. Miller scored 13 points for Memphis, which used the 19-2 burst to take a 70-52 lead entering the fourth quarter. The Grizzlies led by as many as 21 points in the second half. However, Michael Sweetney sparked a 25-6 run in the fourth to cut Memphis' lead to 80-79. Sweetney scored nine of his 10 points in the spurt and his layup with 2:26 left pulled the Bulls within one. Grizzlies guard Dahntay Jones responded with a three-point play on Memphis' next possession and Chicago missed four free throws in the final 90 seconds.</div> <div align="center">Recap | Boxscore | Quotes</div> Warrick was eh, I don't know. 10 Points on 4-7 shooting is pretty good, but I think he could have done a little more with that time(30 minutes). Perhaps a couple more boards at least. But the biggest downer to his night was he committed 5 fouls. Mike Miller and Jackson on the other hand came in and lit the place up, and the new guys like Stoudemire did a moderate job with only 16 minutes but still posting 5 assists and 4 rebounds while Eddie gave 11 points.
I went to the game and was actually bored out of my mind. I was pumped up for the season to get here, but this was worse than a summer league game. Not only is this new team a lot more boring without Jason Williams, Stromile Swift, and James Posey, but the new guys aren't really impressing me. It took me a while to comprehend what was going on. For the last three or so years we've had pretty much the same lineup, but this time there were six or seven noobs in the rotation. Stoudamire played no defense, took a bunch of ill-advised shots, and killed like three fast breaks because he couldn't make a quick enough decision on whether to shoot or pass. Bobby Jackson was really slow and lethargic for a Point Guard, and even though he ended up with nine points, he was a non-factor on offense. Hakim Warrick did end up with ten points, but you have to realize that not only did he get 30 minutes, but he was playing the rotation that had Roberson, Winston, Ffriend, and Tsakalidis for most of the game, and he was playing against guys like Kasib Powell and Randy Holcomb. With all things considered, he was very unimpressive. Brian Cardinal and Lawrence Roberts both sat out this game with injuries, and Pau Gasol only played 18 minutes because it was a preseason game. Once the season gets going, you should see Warrick's minutes drop to 8-14 mpg. He's also a lot shorter and skinnier than I expected and had a really limited number of post moves when matched up against Sweetney. To keep things in perspective though, this was a preseason game. The preseason is about as meaningless as it gets. It's nice to have two to four preseason games, but eight is a little unnessecary. The starters never play, the games don't count, and it only allows more time for someone important to get an injury.
