The lakers wont make it to the playoffs this year for sure, but maybe next year if Kwame and Bynum can be monsters in the post.
I see them at the 6th spot if all goes well this year. (No major injuries, chemistry built up, learn the tri)
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting RJ 21:</div><div class="quote_post">I see them at the 6th spot if all goes well this year. (No major injuries, chemistry built up, learn the tri)</div> 6th? What's your projected playoff seedings?
i dont think they are going to be playoff contenders, i think its going to take alot of time to get them going, and when its like march they willl start winning
The lakers will be lucky to reach the 7th seed in the playoffs unless Kwame reaches his potential quickly, Lamar and Kobe can share a ball and co-exist and Phil can command the respect of everyone. It is now Phil's team, not Kobe's, and it is time they started to see that. Until they do, the Lakers may be lottery bound again!!!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting RJ 21:</div><div class="quote_post">1. Spurs (easy) 2. Kings 3. Mavericks 4. Rockets 5. Nuggets 6. Lakers 7. Warriors 8. Toss up</div> I see, no Sonics or Minny? I personally think they both have a better chance at this point over the Lakers, but best of luck to you guys. We can't have all norcal teams go to the playoffs and no socal team to represent!! Hopefully my Clippers will do well..
sorry dude but theres no chance their 1st round pick Turiaf isnt doing good but hopefully he can get back on the court(go zags)!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting RJ 21:</div><div class="quote_post">1. Spurs (easy) 2. Kings 3. Mavericks 4. Rockets 5. Nuggets 6. Lakers 7. Warriors 8. Toss up</div> NO Phoenix...NO Seattle or Minnesota? I think Denver will win the Pacific that is their division right?
Lakers have the opportunity to challenge for one of the last two playoff spots in the West...I think it'll look like: 1. SA 2. Denver 3. Sacramento 4. Houston 5. Dallas 6. Minnesota 7. Phoenix 8. Seattle However, I do think the last two spots are up for grabs, and LA, Memphis, and Golden State will be competing for them...but I would not place money on the Lakers making the playoffs...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Phantom Balla:</div><div class="quote_post">And I guess the sorry queens will make it. Who do they have besides Bibby and Peja? I really dont think Peja is good. So lets say Bibby and thats it. They are wack.</div>Well....they just happen to have, aside from them, Bonzi Wells, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Brad Miller, Kenny Thomas, and Corliss Williamson. Not too bad if you ask me. On the topic of the Lakers, of course, as a fan, I'm going to say they're at least good enough to be in the playoffs. At this time though, I'm not sure if they can contend. They have plenty of talent, but on the downside, some of that talent has failed to do anything but underachieve and reach full potential. If the Lakers are going to be good this year, players like Odom, Mihm, and Brown, can't underachieve anymore. They need to finally realize their full potential and how good they really can be, and I think Phil is going to help them with that. Overall, I think this team could really surprise a lot of people this year. But, I said that about last years roster and look where they ended up, 34-48 and one of the worst teams in the conference.
Here's my updated prediction ... 1. SA 2. Denver 3. Sacramento 4. Houston 5. Dallas 6. Phoenix 7. Seattle 8. LA Lakers / LA Clippers / Golden St. Which ever team can stay the healthiest amongst the Lakers, Clippers and Warriors will take the 7th or 8th seed.
Your giving Sacto way too much credit, they had a better team last year and still couldn't beat Dallas, Phoenix, Seattle, SA, or Houston and won't again this year. They have no leadership or inside game and will explode when the minutes for bench players disappears. The top six in the West won't change from last year and the bottom two spots are up for grabs.

However, they will struggle once again in the post season because they don't have the players to be effective in halfcourt sets, and struggle when a team is able to slow the game down. In the regular season though, the Kings will be hard to prepare for, with only a day or two at the most. They have too, many skilled players on offense to practice defending against. A team will have to choose their poison, Bibby, Miller, Peja, Wells, or SAR, and they just have to hope the guy they allow to beat them has an off-night. I think Bibby is capable of being the leader of the team. They've had an entire off-season to transistion out of the Webber-Divac-Christie era.
whatthef?, you're wrong. from the point of view of generating offense Sac are much better than last year by adding Bonzi and Shareef. Every one of the five Sac starters is both a VERSATILE and a CONSISTENT double-digit offensive player. There is virtually no other team in the league that has that. Shapecity, I hope you're not placing Denver that high because of how they finished the season which tells us little about this year. As long as Kiki and George remain high on Andre Miller, I have my suspicions. If I was in charge, Earl Watson and Andre would get 20 minutes each and may the best man win.

Getting Voshon Lenard back will pay dividends right away. More importantly, I don't think teams in their division did much to improve this summer. The TWolves are not going to make the playoffs with Marko Jaric and Olowokandi as starters. The Sonics are tough to evaluate, but they appear to be vulnerable this season. Seattle's chemistry last season made them great, but I'm not sure how the team is going to handle a coaching change and having key role players being UNrestricted free agents this summer. It's hard to keep the unrestricted free agents motivated, when in the back of their minds they know there's a strong chance they won't be back.
