<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Bob Weiss:</div><div class="quote_post">"With Vlade, I don't know how that thing is going to shake out. ... It's kind of been that way ever since he's been here. He makes us so good when he's out there because he's a spacer, he creates space, but it's always been about finding the right role for him."</div> http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/spor...982_soni14.html Anyway, I love Vlad as a player - there were a lot of games last year where he displayed a much better all around game than Rashard. Unfortunately, he seems to be a bit of a head case, and I still can't tell if his goal is to be a full time starter (in which case I can understand taking the 1 year offer), or to get a Bobby Simmons type contract (in which case he's an idiot )
Vlad was pretty candid in those articles today. I guess he and Reggie don't get along either. It's strange b/c last year he always seemed to be on his own island--especially after he was injured. He would sit behind the bench and would always seem reluctant to go in the "huddle" after the games. All in all I just think that he is a strange duck. He also talked about his role on the National Team, saying that it isn't worth it to him to play if he isn't starting. At some point Vlad has to realize that the reason he isn't starting is because he has some holes in his game that he needs to fill (post moves, ball handling, defense, rebounding, passing, etc.). This dude is far from a complete player and its amazing to me that he thinks that he is entitled to a starting position in this league. Ray said it best when he said that you never know what you are going to get w/ Vlad. What is interesting is that this year's team depth is most evident in the positions that Vlad is expecting to get minutes--small forward and power forward. So if Vlad doesn't find a way to get healthy and become more consistent then he may find himself playing a lot less than he played last season. For the team's sake I hope that isn't the case b/c we are a much better team when he is playing well.
Shiek why do you think Reggie and Vlade dont get along well? I never saw that..maybe i missed it. As for Vlade being a more complete player then Lewis I really have no idea where you are seeing that Roland. Even in Vlades best games he still never really showed to be that complete. It was usually a lot of 3s. Anyways, this situation is without a doubt one I think that could become very interesting. As Odde pointed out in another post I think their is a legitimate chance that Vlade may find himself out of the rotation or with atleast a smaller role if Wilkins takes the opportunity to earn minutes. Not to mention with the fact that Wilkins is obviously more of a long run player for us anyways.
yeah...vlade's just a dumbass. He wants to start, but...he doesnt play like a starter. i guess he just thinks too highly of himself. sure, we'd miss vlade on the offensive end if he doesnt play as much, but with wilkins....we've got more of an all rounder. he's got the hustle and D, and some sort of an offensive game as well. so yeah...we'll see how this shapes out. Bob's gonna start vlade in one of the pre-season games so he's gonna get his chance to show everyone else what he sees in himself.
Well, give Vlade some credit for saying that he knows he has to up his game in order to get the big money. And he is a better all-around player than Rashard, but his inconsistency is too big of a problem. He's a better rebounder and defender, perhaps even a better ball-handler although he's always too busy jacking up threes for anybody to tell. Rashard's big advantage is his midrange game, because he doesn't feel the need to score 3 points on every possession.

Im not sure I would say his defense is better either. Infact I wouldnt. They are both bad defenders but Rashard can atleast occasionally block a shot. On the offensive end of the court it isnt even a comparison. Lewis is better with the ball hes better without it hes better at posting up. You suggest Vlade might be a better ballhandler but everytime he dribbles he just drives it to the basket and closes his eyes..I dont see where this is any sort of an advantage.
^^ yeah each time vlad drives to the basket....the first words outta my mouth are "Oh no..another turnover". haha, i like how he shows his agression like that, but if he can somehow avoid ramming into the guy standing in front of the dotted line...it would be much more affective. more often than not, he gets an offensive foul called on him. I like vlad..but...he's definately gotta become a smarter player. there's no doubt that he has the talent.
Well, if you can remember all the way back a couple years ago when Ray was out in the beginning of the season, Radman actually tried on defense and rebounded well for about a week. I haven't seen the same effort since, though.

Well I just feel like Vlad has a better feel for the game - a 'sense of where you are', as Bill Bradley might say.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Coolguy777:</div><div class="quote_post">I dont think a week makes Vlade worthy to be considered a more all around player then Lewis....</div> Well, at least he's shown he can do these things, while Rashard looks lost on defense no matter what.
