Because I'm just so darn anxious, I just want everyone to know that this will be my game-time thread today, and I just wanted to explore a few angles of what this game will entail. Mostly, I'll be keeping my eye on Dan Dickau. If that fella can't improve on last night's performance, I want him settin' come November. It's all going to come down to whether or not this guy can set the table. He's too scared to shoot, not confident enough to drive, and is just too silly to hold onto the ball. I'm not pushing him for a third string job just yet, but if he doesn't show me he can outplay a confident Orien Greene, then I just want him gone. Aside from that, the Mark Blount watch has officially begun. With two consecutive games of double digit scoring and five boards, we may see something from him yet. I want to see him run some more, but he has been solid underneath, against guys that should be beating him up, so there's hope for him yet. Keep up the good work. I'm hoping to see some more youngsters in the starting line tonight, but not holding my breath. However, I do expect to see Gomes or Reed in the starting lineup by tonight or the next game. Some good play from them could help their causes by the season opener. Go C's.
What are your early impressions on the 9-finger bandit in Beantown? Maybe the emergence of Kendrick Perkins is motivating Mark Blount, or maybe he joined a fantasy basketball league and drafted himself.

He sits on the perimeter waiting for passes that aren't coming, because he's intimated by set offenses, but he's also the most coachable (sounding) young player I've seen in some time. There's a lot to look forward to though, as the only plays where he actually gets the ball on the break, he's looked great, like he has a real nose for the basket. His jumpshot is so funny looking because of that ring finger, wait 'till you see it for yourself. Other than that, Blount has actually looked pretty passionate, which is fabulous, and Perk just looks like a fabulous defender with no offensive ability, but that's what we expect at this point. At least he's an awful lot better than that other loser they traded for in the draft that year. You know, that guy that gives away stupid fouls 35-40 feet from the defensive end of the court. Just kidding, but yeah, Banks is terrible. Blount's inside work still needs some more effort, but he looks like he's willing to try, and that's a real plus, so let's keep riding the Blount Bandwagon.
Well, the usual starting five for the C's, so things are normal, aside from that, Tony Brown is coaching tonight, that's different. Anyway, we'll see how Tony wants to weigh the bench. Bulls starting five looks normal too. Right now, some Bull is addressing the crowd. Anyway, let's see how Ricky does today. Tony says that Ricky at the point is going to be a normal thing, wow. That will be fun to watch, especially against Kirk tonight. All I care about now is how Dickau comes out, if he sucks, I'll be pissed, and calling for his contract. Here comes the tip, talk later. Blount wins it, and Dickau almost immediately turns it over.
Wow, both these offenses look great, and Mark is really showing his stuff. I sure am proud of his improvement. Other than that, Gordon surely is showing his stuff, and Pierce looked sharp until a second foul a second ago, kind of a silly call, but who can say? Anyway, both teams look great, so let's keep it up.
End of the first and Delonte is playing a great 2 guard to Ricky's 1, that's kind of exciting. Defense is starting to show signs of life as Pargo just took over the point. Perk's block to close the quarter was pretty impressive, I see a decent future for that guy. Can't say enough about Mark Blount, he's a totally different person. Bulls defense seems a step slower, but I think I'm only talking about the subs, so that's probably no big deal. Anyway, fun half, and I think we'll see more good offense here in the second. Uh oh, Veal's into the game. Hide. But they're going big so that should mask his awfulness. Thank God.
Well, could have been a lot prettier, but at least it's close, and the offense has been good on both sides. Defense is looking better throughout the half, so that should be a little more of a bone of contention for the talking heads. Delonte looks like the best point tonight, with Greene and Dickau both showing up moderately well. Dickau still looks awful on defense, but he's using his ability to draw the foul well, and he's making Heinrich back off him on defense. Aside from that, it's slow. Not a bad game though, no revelations either.
Just took a quick timeout with 8.13 in the fourth, and let me tell you. The second unit's defensive wheels came off. Ben Gordon hit everything he took, and the offense hasn't recovered. Although momentum appears to be going our way again now. Nevertheless, Reed is impressive again, Greene looks good, and Gerald Green hit a couple solid j's, so I'm pretty stoked. Other than that, the Bulls aren't using much of their bench, so that may be why it's so lopsided. It's a fourteen point game right now. More details when the game ends. Oh yeah, and why is Bynum the only point guard now afraid to shoot?
That's game, and it could've been a lot worse. At the very least, we saw some more of the rookies we hadn't seen yet. Lots of hustle all around, and some decent boardwork. The vets looked great, and that's all I care about, so I will remain excited about this team. Green turned out okay in the 4th, not a stellar performance, but no one expected that. Bynum was fearless, and got some good shots, and the passing from everyone involved was good. Keep it up.
