Newsday - Antonio Davis will be in New York and in a Knick uniform by Monday, according to Knicks president Isiah Thomas.

In the meantime, the Knicks began fining Davis yesterday an undisclosed amount for each day he failed to report to the team.

Davis was traded to the Knicks as part of the Eddy Curry trade. Davis reported to the Knicks training camp for one night after the trade, and then returned to be with his mother-in-law in Chicago who was undergoing surgery.

Davis made it clear that he is not happy to be going to the Knicks.

I hope he can solve his problems and play good basketball for us in the paint. He should be happy to be coming to NY. I hope his attitude changes and he can be a factor in the team.

I just heard Zeke talk about this at the end of the 1st qtr against the Mavs. He said that AD should be in uniform Tues night and that he had to do some convincing to get him here. Davis got some kids in school etc etc etc.
Bottom line if he comes in and plays hard he would be a huge asset to this time with his wisdom and tenacity. Young cats can learn a lot from Davis.

Why doesnt Isiah just let the man go? We have enough powerforwards as it is and it's pretty clear he doesnt want to come to New York. All he'll do is add to the glut at powerforward and make it that much harder for the younger players to get out on the floor. All the while he could possibly be a problem in the locker room since he doesnt want to be here. Let's just cut the man loose. We dont need him.

Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.

This is stupid to me. The man doesn't even want to play in New York. Let him go back to the Bulls. They already have enough PFs on the roster that they really don't need him. Beyond that, Brown has even stated that he doesn't want to coach a player that doesn't want to play for that team. But, because Isiah is so damn stubborn and won't let him go because it will make the Curry trade look worse, Davis has to stay.

Why would Thomas let Davis go? First, if NY waives Davis, he will go to Bulls, and that will only make the rival stronger. Second, even if NY don't use Davis as a player, they can still use him as a trade bait, since he can be a 14 mils cap cleaning device. Warriors got B. Davis with similar contract, so NY should explore their trading option as well...

Thomas said disgruntled Knicks forward Antonio Davis -- who was traded to New York with Curry -- is being fined for each day he remains away from the team.

Davis, who made it known how unhappy he was to have been dealt from the Bulls, reported to the Knicks on Oct. 4. He left the next day to return to Chicago to be with his family while his mother-in-law had surgery. He is expected back today.

"We're sensitive to it,'' Knicks president Isiah Thomas said of Davis' feelings. "He understands that he will be fined.''

Thomas also insisted that the Knicks would not buy out the final season on Davis' contract, which is worth $13.8 millon.

    "This isn't charity,'' Thomas said.

There is a possibility the Knicks could release Davis at the end of training camp. He would have to wait 20 days before re-signing with the Bulls.

Isiah is full of quotables so far.

If you dont want him, trade him; but dont just give him away.

Hooray! We can take one one decent player and add on two more stiffs with oversized contracts! What an excellent idea, look how successful the Ewing trade was!

First of all Bulls fans just cause you want him back doesnt mean that the Knicks are going 2 do it. A logjam at PF? Who's at PF? Lee, Taylor, Rose. Thats a logjam? Please, Davis is better then those 3 and we do need the size at PF. If he doesnt want to be here, too bad for him. He'll keep on losing money until we trade or release him. The knicks just aren't going 2 let Davis go back to the bulls as easy as that. If the bulls want him so badly then they can trade someone for him.

Knicks President Isiah Thomas reportedly fined former Bull Antonio Davis more than $300,000 for missing two exhibition games. Davis was acquired in the Curry trade but didn't stay long at Knicks training camp. He returned to the Chicago area. …www.insidehoops.com

this would probably make him become a Knick quick

I love it, I hope the Knicks fine him all season long at $150K a day. At this rate it will take 93 days for the Knicks to fine him for the entire amount his salary. I wish more GMs would take this approach to "disgruntled" players.

I have no clue whats going on the Knicks organization right now, its gets more confusing by the day. I havent kept up with anything in a while because its so confusing and they have some serious issues to get through. I just hope by the start of the season theres nothing like this going on.

Glut at PF? Rose looks wayy undersized in preseason.. and awkward on offense. I wouldn't want him playing any sorta major minutes.

Frye and Lee are eventually gonna make the rotation.... by season's end. I hope. But until then they're either gonna get few minutes at first or at worst garbage time.

Taylor looked somewhat good shooting the ball against Dallas but his defense is paper thin.

I'm more comfortable with Davis in the lineup.. hell making him the starter on experience and muscle.. as well as rebounding.

He's already said it took him some time to get used to being traded.. he's shown up and has played... and played well in his limited minutes. For Isiah to just waive him because he's not happy is just stupid.
