dunno if its a good idea, Green could be one of those right away guys or a project. I'd put him in for a week at max.

I would be pressed to find a single reason not to send him to the D-League. He's confident, and only more so amongst his peers, he's talented, he's offensive-minded, and he's VERY coachable, and that's a great place to be coachable. Not only that, but I don't want to him poisoned by a bad locker room if the Boston press or fans keep talking trade and pressuring Green to step his game up now. He has his future under control, and the D-League is as good a place as any to learn the game.
Doc Rivers needs to play him more if not it will stunt his growth and will hurt his onfidence. He is the future of the franchise IMO.
Well, I really havent heard much about him since he was drafted. The D-League would be a good place for him if he is that raw, it doesnt help to be playing behind Pierce, R. Davis, and Tony Allen. Its definitely a tough call, other high schoolers such as Martel Webster and Monta Ellis dont appear to be on their way to the D-League, but these players have proven to be pretty good (by rookie standards) in Summer League and Training Camp. I dont think the D-League could hurt Green if he is struggling against NBA competiton or if just istn getting any minutes.
Trade him for contracts...Rockets wanted to get a higher draft pick so they could draft him... Rockets would be very interested. You'll could get wesley who is an expiring contract.

Honestly guys quit throwing around stuff you made up, sure the Rockets might've wanted him in the draft but who didnt want him? Boston gotta steal in Green and I think he's a great player with lots of potential, I saw some clips of him on the internet and he seemed great but you know that doesnt mean much. From what I know he's a good shooter/scorer but needs to work his handles and defense. If Boston were to send someone to the D-League I think it'd be Will Bynum and Orion Greene.
I'm not even going to address this trade talk nonsense, but let's talk for real about where he is. No he has not received all that much in the way of minutes, but in the ones where he has showed up, he's been pretty decent. Scoring appears to be his forte, and the only game he received significant minutes, he was in a large lineup that covered nicely for him. The C's run a man defense for all 48 minutes, like most teams, and Green is having a hard time adjusting to the speed of his man. A zone would help him, but why would you teach an entire team an entirely different defense for exactly one month? The team is not trying to define their style of play to bring this kid along, and nor should they. They will however, work very hard to make sure he gets capable tutoring so they can get the most out of his ability. And I think he is nor more than a year off, before he gets very significant time on the floor with skilled veterans. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Run BJM:</div><div class="quote_post">Well, I really havent heard much about him since he was drafted. The only reason they would consider sending this guy to the D-League is because of the log jam at the soft guard/forward (also known as a swingman) spot. Were he on the Blazers, with an extremely limited number of talented small players, he wouldn't be in the D-League either. Were he on the Warriors, who really only have one 2 guard, maybe two, then he would probably be getting some good minutes out of the deal, but he's not, so let's see how he plays with others on his level. The only thing I would worry about would be if he somehow got infected with the CBA Virus. It's a serious malady that forces players to showcase only their offensive abilities, never to share the ball, and play in front of apathetic crowds that support neither the home team nor the league, which effectively ruins the confidence of the young player. And that was no offense to Golden State fans, I think they have a good team that will be fun to watch this year, and were I a more fortunate man, I would watch them on NBA TV regularly, to see how these athletes develop together.

But the Celtics would barely even be able to get Green garbage minutes at the end of blowouts, the Warriors can get Monta Ellis on the floor during blowouts and even maybe a few minutes in heated competition if he proves himself. Gerald Green is competing with an all-star in Paul Pierce, a guy who would start on any other team in Ricky Davis, and a young SG in Tony Allen who is looking to eat up as many minutes as he can as it is. Its just a difficult stuation to get minutes from. That being said, Green would also be wisely served to stick around those guys and learn from them. He could learn alot just riding the bench and practicing with these guys and eventually it will be his turn to step up and he will be ready.
