was so looking forward to seeing his rankings, to see where he put bosh up against the nba's PF elite. to my dismay, not only did he have him out of position at center, he ranked players like dan gadzuric, and chris "dunk champ" anderson ahead of him. even at center, bosh is clearly a better, and more promising player. but the same article had ben wallace at the #11 slot. come on...even though big ben isnt an offensive threat, he brings way too many other intangibles to the court, to be rated that low. we're talking about arguably the best defender in the league...both on the ball, and in the low post HERE is the article if you want to read it. its a good read, but some really odd choices imo
Check this out: Drew Gooden is 10th best PF in the league Rasheed Wallace is 25th best Okafor is 26th best Ben Wallace is the 11th best center? How are Okur(who was a sub behind Ben Wallace!!!!), Chris Anderson, and Dan Gadzuric(will play behind Bogut), all better than Big Ben?
He's trying to do something that alot of analysts make the mistake of trying, which is analyzing basketball purely on stats. He himself acknoledged the flaws in the formulas: there were more offensive categories than defensive, players that are stat-hogs got too much love, it doesn't take in how a player makes his teammates improve or opponents play worse. Hollinger's trying to take apart basketball like its baseball, but he needs to realize that the game has too many factors and not enough stat categories to truly rate a player on their effectiveness.
Hollinger is a typical BSPN writer. They have all gone from being sportswriters to being tabloid writers interested in getting a rise out of sports fans.
how is chris anderson the seventh best centre in the league; he's probably in shock himself. i love the dude but seventh best centre in the league?
i hate when you say who are the worst players, overrated ya there are over rated players but i don't think you can put in a the 10 worst players list
You do know those are PER rankings, not actual player rankings lol. Bosh is lower because he doesn't rebound, defend or block shots as well as most of those guys there, it's not really a big deal as the rankings are based on very few things IMO. Obviously Hollinger doesn't think Andersen is better than Bosh, he's not an idiot lol.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting deception:</div><div class="quote_post">how is chris anderson the seventh best centre in the league; he's probably in shock himself. i love the dude but seventh best centre in the league?</div> I guess the efficiency rankings didn't take into account the ability to dunk a ball in less than 15 tries.
